Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

That's my worry. Lose in Ukraine, get threatened in Russia & press the button. A 70yr old humiliated nutter ain't great.

At that point we're relying entirely on lads in silos & subs to disobey.

It’s not a question of one 70 year old nutter pressing the button. That order still has to pass through the hands of others, to be implemented. People who aren’t 70, won’t all be despotic nut jobs, and will appreciate the enormity of what that action would provoke.

If he tried to “push the button”, it would more likely trigger a coup than a nuclear war.

Lets hope 1. It doesn't get there & 2. You're right.

He abdicated and...joined the Nazis? Are you serious?
If that is what he thinks he really needs to spend sometime on British History.
Edward VIII
He wasn’t the only Nazi sympathiser either.
In 1936 a constitutional crisis in the British Empire arose when King-Emperor Edward VIII proposed to marry Wallis Simpson, an American socialite who was divorced from her first husband and was pursuing the divorce of her second.

nothing to do with the Nazis.

That's what I'm clinging onto amongst all this mess. We've created bombs that are simply too big for the planet and any remotely sensible set of people with access to them should think about the impact on humanity and not just a short war.
