Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

This. If you're going to do it, do it hard.

Up the penalties massively for any UK firm, real estate, lawyers, accountants who handle any Russian related money from this moment onwards. So many 'respectable' UK businesses have gorged on dirty money for decades, time they paid for it. Not fines, prison time and POCA the shit out their wealth.

Identify every person of interest who's a supporter or facilitator of Putin's regime and whose kids who are in public schools receiving a jolly good UK education or at university, and expel the kids from the country. Let them go to Minsk comp.

Seize Chelsea from Abramovich and establish it as a fans-owned cooperative in the National League. Pick a club from, oh, I don't know, League One to inherit its assets in the Premier League.
Would cripple the Tory party though.

This is fascinating. A suggestion that - perhaps - things have gone wrong for the Russians.

Assuming that's accurate then it's basically Blitzkrieg doctrine, which never succeeded against an enemy that wasn't unprepared for it. Werhmacht didn't fuck about on the borders for weeks on end giving the enemy time to set themselves up either.

Knowing if they attacked them head on they’d be slaughtered, it appears the Ukrainians have got their tactics spot on to counter this Russian onslaught. It’s looking like they’ve deliberately let the Russians in easily but are going for their supply lines and logistics following behind.

This could easily demoralise the already tired front line Russian troops.

This isn’t going as well, and certainly not as quickly as scumbag Putin had hoped

Interesting, I certainly don’t think Putin expected this level of resistance. But like that man has said if that’s just a third of Russias troops and Ukraine are already giving out guns to anyone able bodied, you’d think Russia can choose to end this whenever they want. I’m still praying this blows up from within, no one wants this apart from that mentally deranged twat bag.
he should have he’s fighting highly trained soldiers ex soldiers police, guards now civilians who Will die for their country

Also the advancing Russians will be knackered they can do all good and well with their bombs and tanks etc close combat will be a different story

He probably expected 1939
Germany blitz in reality he’s getting a rougher ride than he thought.
Imagine just living a normal life then being given an ak47 and instructions on how to make petrol bombs, with the expectation of killing people.

f***ing mental this like.
A lot of the older will be ex soviet conscripts etc

Really interesting. I’ve seen a few things about the logistics issue.

Although arguably the further they go into Ukraine and the more they take the less of an issue it should be. A massive part of the logistics is food and fuel for 100k troops and frankly they can loot that (Not sure what tanks run on admittedly). Ammunition, mortars, rockets etc… different issue

The other thing to start factoring now is fatigue. Certainly the Russians will have been up now and advancing for 48-60 hours. I doubt they are getting much if any rest near the front lines considering the demand for pace. Going to be some tiredness setting in and that can make a difference in life and deaths battles
Good post. I still find it incredible that when it boils down everything is still very similar to early 20th century warfare logistics and the human spirit.

This probably can’t be answered properly but if Putin died tonight (god I hope he does) would this carry on? Would his cheerleaders and right hand men keep this going or is it really just down to him?

I’d imagine it’s a lot easier to plough on when on the defence than being sent to murder people in a neighbouring country where you could highly likely have relatives
