Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

It's not a tickling contest.

On one hand I feel for those Russians who will die and leave heartbroken parents, kids and wives behind but on the other hand I want to see Russian aggression punished and for the casualties to pile up.
You want to see casualties piled up?
Will you be playing with yourself watching it happen?

Imaging going to work on the plant to try and find a way to stop its radiation only to then be attacked in the middle of this completely abandoned wasteland by Russian soldiers and taken hostage.

I've read this whole thread and it's absolute madness what is happening. Can anyone sum up in simple terms what Putin's motive is?

I understand that it's been bubbling for years, but what does he hope to gain ? Will taking Ukraine make Russia stronger?

I’d happily cheer the death of someone whose presence meant unprovoked violence, destruction, oppression and death.

The Russians aren’t a peacekeeping force. They’re violent oppressors.

I totally get they’re just following orders. I totally get they’re conscripted. I totally get they may have no choice.

But they still bring death, destruction and oppression, and the only way to stop them is to kill them. They are the aggressors. Not Ukraine.

@FC United of Manchester

That’s why
This is the sad reality.

To reform the Soviet Union

The elected Pro-Russian government was overthrown when they refused to turn their back on Russia in favour of the EU. The coup was supported by many in the West, but lots of Ukraine were against it, particularly the Russian speaking areas with strong ties to Russia. Russia moved in to support some of these areas - Crimea etc.

Russia are ultimately responsible for war, but what the hell were the EU (and NATO) thinking?! These organisations were meant to be about peace, not endless expansion.
Not like you to get everything wrong.

With an economy the size of Canada's and military spending about equal with the UK or France, a protracted conflict with economic sanctions biting hard this could turn out to be the downfall of Russia.
that would be an even more dangerous scenario there's no telling what he'd do if that happened
