Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

Absolutely not. If you use a nuclear weapon everyone dies. Russia knows this, we know this, the entire world knows that. That's why they're happy to invade as they know nobody will use them. You're absolutely wrong if you think we're any safer with nuclear weapons then say, Scandanavia without them.

More like they were happy to invade, as Ukraine gave up their nukes..

His demeanour and public behaviour changing in the last few weeks/months has been startling like compared to his behaviour mainly over the majority of the last 2 decades. Part of me thinks he's becoming mentally unwell, possibly early dementia or something. Looks ****ing unhinged.

Can you imagine a worse scenario than his finger on the nuclear button on one side and Biden's on the other.

I'd imagine that will be being considered at great length by the western intelligence services as we speak on here.

Seems to be a very small elite number of politicians at the top level there who potentially (if not there) could unravel the whole thing.

A lot of support for him comes from the ultra rich who only give a jot about money and sod all else.
Taking Putin out in a surgical manor is the best case scenario. Would the next person who takes over in Russia be any better though? No one knows.

The goons and trolls that constantly moan about brexit. How shit this country is and how vile it's electorate is for voting in a Tory government. Now really do have something to piss moan and worry about.
I think Brexit and a shambolic government probably have a more direct impact on most people on here than the conflict in the Ukraine.

Give it time and little Rocket Man will want all attention on him and they will get involved the situation is going to escalate fast and it’s about damage limitation

So your threshold for whether nuclear war is worth risking is basically a list of countries worth defending?

Can you not see the issues with that? The lives of the Ukrainian people are not worth less because they aren’t in NATO.

For someone so concerned about avoiding nuclear war, for a simple yes/no list of countries to be all it takes to change your mind, is a bit flimsy, no?
It really isn't difficult to understand. NATO is a military organisation that exists to defend its members. Ukraine isn't part of it. Putin knows this. Putin hasn't and won't attack a NATO member. He knows the consequences. Russia is a bully and in wrong but it's a nuclear armed power. There are other things we can do as mentioned before that would hurt Russia. For some reason you haven't mentioned that here.

If troops get sent now to Ukraine by the West then, as previously mentioned, there is real risk of this escalating into a world war and nuclear exchange. Not sure how hundreds of millions of dead and a destroyed planet helps Ukraine and its people? Can you respond to me on this point please?

Thank Christ you're not in power. I'd be extremely worried if you were. I'd be watching those 'protect and survive' videos thats for sure.

Does this not happen as a matter of routine?

Not all the time but it does happen. Mind you flying 400 miles from the Belarus border and 600 miles from Kalingrad with, typically, nuclear cruise missiles onboard with the current events ongoing is certainly a message

Not once did I mention being safer. I said any serious discussion around disarmament is over.

I can’t be wrong about something I never said.

Who the **** are those on his team?

All look like terrified puppets to me. Like that Minister he publicly humiliated in that Krelim conference the other day.

Finland have some sort of treaty with Russia saying it can't join NATO that lad from Finland can explain it better

Went away in 90s. Still very much frowned upon & as far as I know, no party has yet been brave enough to say it. But now...

Also, sanctions will knacker Finland. Russia is a huge trading partner. EU will need to support.
