Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

As horrible as it is for those involved hopefully gone are the days in which we interfere and make things worse. I’d rather we kept neutral unless Britain or a territory is threatened. Maybe there was something in Russia interfering in Brexit? Only military force in the EU now is the French and the yanks seem hesitant to get involved
Had this occured in the pre nuclear age we'd have all jumped in. We cannot afford to.

As awful as it is, can see this becoming a long, drawn out bloody conflict in Ukraine with harsh but necessary economic sanctions causing starvation and death in the already poor mass sections of the russian population.

I can't see this ending well for Russia and Putin personally.

Don't think they'll have the bottle to invade a nato territory. Got my optimist hat on here with regard to that.

While sanctions don’t do nothing they will do very little with China’s 1 billion population to prop them up.

Unfortunately War is inevitable now in my opinion. It’s just a matter of time before he pushes in to NATO areas such as Poland etc.
He won’t want to fight nato as he will he stuck on two fronts once he moves west Turkey become a problem with the Black Sea etc stretching him into two fronts

Excellent post and sadly I agree. Putin has lost the plot imo and is flexing his muscles on the former ussr countries. China are going to pounce for Taiwan whilst the world is occupied with this

Yanks have sent a couple of their Noble call sign B52s up. Their nuclear bombers. Over Sweden and Poland.

And seeing pictures of captured russian teen soldiers has knocked me sick. Putin using kids to fight his dirty f***ing war, he needs putting down the reckless cowardly ****.
I hate him.

I keep wondering when is MI5/ going to look into him and banks and arrange a let's say, him vanishing into the Bermuda triangle.
Whilst making it clear I think he’s a knacker the eastern block expansion of the eu has directly contributed to this , not the eu fault in any way but this seems to have riled the power mad putin

I agree with you in part mate but we can't exactly go to war with him/them can we, he's already today threatened nuclear war if we get directly involved militarily (as Kennedy did with Cuba) - how would you approach the crisis from this point onward or what would you have done differently to the 'appeasement' in order to avoid it reaching this point?

Russian stocks have plunged today, some like Gazprom are down a third. Bank shares have halved. Yields on government bonds are now north of 10%. The absolute way for the West to respond is to encircle the Russian economy and squeeze it till the pips squeak. Ban anyone worldwide from trading with them under threat of having sanctions imposed themselves. It will take a while but ultimately their already faltering economy can be crippled.

He's under domestic political pressure and is looking for a quick fix. Russian economy has been crippled badly recently partly to do with covid and no signs of recovery unlike here for instance.

His demeanour and public behaviour changing in the last few weeks/months has been startling like compared to his behaviour mainly over the majority of the last 2 decades. Part of me thinks he's becoming mentally unwell, possibly early dementia or something. Looks ****ing unhinged.
