I'm meant to be seeing a Ukrainian-Russian lady tonight, she told me weeks ago that Putin would not invade, its all USA's fault, Putin won''t kill innocent women and kids. Interested to find out her thoughts now

It was very poor country internally in the 80s. It'll depend very much on the resolve of the people and what propaganda they're being fed.

Fair point. My Knowledge of Russia isn't great TBH. I'm guessing the internal millionaires won't be chuffed though especially if linked to the govt?

People aren't against it because of the money. People are against it as they don't want WW3 and nuclear warfare. God bless those children in Kiev but going gung-ho and straight to war and it being our children and family's at risk (especially if China joined in) is not the right answer.

Other than China, the likes of North Korea couldn't piss in a pot as they don't have an army to fight.

We were never getting involved militarily. Our government is compromised.
Russia may turn to trading with China and I’m sure China will be happy about that as they will also be trading with all the places Russia can’t. It will be good for China as they win with no costs to themselves. Zero chance they involve themselves to help Putin - totally unnecessary for them. Either way they’re no worse off and could profit from a weakened Russia. Putin or his replacement will still have to trade with China. They’re nicely placed to profit from Russia’s adventures no matter how they turn out. China will look after itself- it’s not a charitable institution.

Why not. If we are all nuked to death then we are all dead so impossible to be upset or have regrets.

If we don’t do it and have a world where Russia, China etc can go around invading internationally, interfering with fake news to create unrest around the world, making their populations poorer whilst enriching their leaders etc then its a rubbish world. Better to fix it or end it imo.

I get vibes of Leningrad where the Russians just equipped anyone with weapons, some even without and were slaughtered by the Germans. Patriotism is a powerful tool but sending out people to die I'm not sure.

Zelensky is an actor/comedian not a politician but you can tell he loves his country, but I'm not sure about the arm everyone you can approach
