Happy to do that but I would imagine the Conservative party and its higher ups are on the side of the West. I don’t think this is going to end well unless we make some dramatic bold moves. However, opposing him militarily in Ukraine will end up very badly indeed. Never has there been such an existential crisis for Europe since 1945.
 

I want to remind people demanding all Russians in the UK to be arrested, locked up etc, that our club owner's family is Russian.

KLD mother is the wealthiest woman in Russia, but I am to assume as a now Swiss national, that she has no assets in the country and that the trust fund she made for her son isn't holding things there.

When talking of Hitler, you can maybe remember that it was war against Russia that was his downfall, the same as for Napoleon.

I do not think it is a good idea to get in dispute with Russia. England needs trade anyway after brexit. Let Ukraine sort out their own dilemma.

Napoleon invaded in the winter, and also came close.

However likening those campaigns with today's events is daft. Russia should not be allowed to pick which country it fancies this week and invade it, end of.

that was the same thing that was said in 1936 and again in 1938 we "give in" to stop escalation.

If this was the first move by Russia, I would totally agree with you, but we have seen over the last few years Putins actions speak louder than his words, he has already annexed Crimea, he chips away, we tried talking and all it did was give him time to move assets into place, its now a non brainier the joint exercise in Belarus was a bluff, to just get 30000 Russian troops and equipment into position, he has attacked an independent country, what should we do, ignore him until the next time, well imo this is the next time, in the 30's we watched for over 10 years the events unfold, when Germany walked in the Rhineland, we could have and should have stopped him there, Hitler said " he wasn't ready for a fight and would have withdrawn, but we didn't stand up to him, chip chip chip Hitler advanced his goals, He knew the thought of war kept us in check, which we ended up in a much worse position than we would have if we had stopped him sooner.

NATO should have stopped him years ago, but we ignored it, with weak rhetoric and we have the fruit of our labours, Russians have attacked, so our pragmatic cool head has directly lead us to the brink and is backing us into a much worse corner than if we had acted stronger earlier.

Would you be willing to draw that line with the lives of our children serving in the armed forces? Does Putin want to reasssemble the USSR? would he stop there? Would it then be extending the soviet ‘influence’ to ex communist states? Are we going to end up playing out WW3 along the same lines as WW2. Would Poland again be the final line in the sand. Jesus Christ I did not expect to live out the dilemma’s faced by my grandparents. Humanity on the chopping board of governments / politics once again.

Agreed remove them from the swift system instantly.

I know they have been trying to develop their own recently but having no access to swift will cause problems.

Christ man no one should care about this currently, people are literally losing there lives for no good reason.

Nightmare isnt it?

I just feel the longer Putin got/gets away with it the bolder he becomes, seems he wants a legacy to a be a "hero" for the people. I really thought we were starting to get better at dealing with each other and thought with the last few years the chance of out and out war was very low, this mess throws everything in the air and all bets are off.

No winners in this action by Putin, I just dont understand it myself, its worrying.
