Good map here that shows currently the separatists only hold about 1/3 rd of Donbas and 1/4 of Luhansk. Unless Ukraine roll over now Putin has recognised all of it there is enough fighting still to happen in these regions alone that will kick off in the next few days

We'd be in the same situation Russia is in now. Act like you're going to invade to try and force some sort of agreement from Scotland that they won't join this Russia-led military alliance and if they don't blink then invade. It would be a shitshow but better than allowing Russia to build up troops and a nuclear arsenal at our border.

I feel like people have a cartoonish view of Russia at times and forget that they have national interests and will defend them like everybody else. People seem to think that we can just go around threatening what another country - rightly or wrongly - considers its supreme interest without any consequences.

Scotland would have every right to host Russian troops if they wanted as long as they didn’t invade England.

But they wouldn’t do that. Because the reason countries join NATO is people like democracy, freedom of speech and assembly. So they are attracted to the US and to the west. So they join if they can.

The only people who are attracted to authoritarian right wing dictatorships such as Putins Russia is if they are coerced.

The reason the west expands is the survival of the fittest. Our model of governance is better. One day Russia will join us.

I don't think Corbyn and the Looney Left are pro-Russian, it's just that they are anti-West/NATO. They be happy giving over Ukraine to Putin it it meant being able to blame the UK, US and other Western powers for it.

They'd have the right but it would be strongly in our national interests not to let it happen.
