The problem is the west can’t ever be seen to be the trigger. We have to pretend we’re trying to work together whereas Putin can pretend all he likes that it’s an exercise as it’s his country to move around in freely.

It is now or never for him though. I’m still convinced he’s going in any day now

I think his most likely plan would be to invade the two rebel areas and then demand that they be given autonomy so that if they are reintegrated back into Ukraine then could veto any move to join either the EU or NATO. I think any attack on Kiev would probably depend on how Ukraine responded to Russia taking the regions.

Didn’t they invade Georgia a few years ago for like a week then just went home like nothing happened

I didn't mean the validity of the source it was more Russias pathetic lies that allow them to justify it.

Sad times if true, was hoping it wouldn't come to conflict.

Completely agree and believe their military strength will be a detriment to the Ukraine.

They have 700k troops including the civil defence force, and a lot of advanced anti tank weapons like Javelins and NLAW’s. Putin can’t just roll his tanks, particularly into big urban areas as it will be a bloodbath for Russia. Which sadly increases the chances of indiscriminate strikes against civilian population centres.

But it’s a balance for Putin. The more outright civilian targetting the harder sanctions will be, the more Ukrainian attitudes will harden against Russia and the more significant the West’s covert backing and funding of the Ukrainian resistance
