And are but a fractal of the bigger picture...thankfully the only weapons on the SMB are an assortment of unfounded hatreds, but I don't think anyone has ever died by way of a character assasination.

Apart from the people who kill themselves due to it, we sometimes forget there's a real person behind the keyboard and its easy to attack that person, sometimes verging on bullying, we dont know that persons state of mind and what maybe seems as harmless to us, maybe could cause issues for that person leading to a tragic end.

Its why Its always best to try and stay civil imo, we can agree or disagree and debate but it helps no one to make personal attacks, let your knowledge of the subject win the day, not character assassination.

I agree, just wanted to keep it light and open for others to elaborate, which you have done eloquently 👍

I think you’re wrong. He’s going in.
It's difficult to tell at the minute but it doesn't look great.

Whether he goes in or not, he will be absolutely watching the west and learning how we react, looking out for our strength and weaknesses. Watching for opportunities and threats.

It's imperative, the west, NATO and anyone else against this level of aggression, all stick together, act decisively, and sing from the same hymn sheet. Just to show Putin and China, who will also be watching, that we are united.

Putin wanted us isolated from Europe and spent a lot of time and money making sure the vote went how he wanted. We should make it look like although we are not part of it any more we will defend it like we are and make us appear closer than ever. True or not.

Putin is devous enough to use this as a distraction for an even bigger nutjob offensive.

"I'm 70 and have to make my mark...screw the carnage it may bring"

I still think this is Putin playing a blinder and making the west look stupid. 2 more days of this then it’ll all come to an end

How have they been made to look stupid?

They have to react to events. An adversary which has a track record of invading countries puts 150k troops and equipment only miles from your border then of course the Ukrainians and the West have to react.

Looking stupid would being completely complacent and not doing anything or calling out the risk
Quite a famous author on the Russians

Watching RT out of curiosity this morning & it's mental. Headline was Ukraine threaten to build nuclear arsenal. They were showing stats of the (large) Ukraine share of the old USSR arsenal as an indicator of what they could get.

Just bonkers.

If spending billions of roubles threatening the security of sovereign states, damaging Russian economy and position in the world to make 'the west' look stupid then yes he is playing a blinder.

Why are they still allowed to broadcast into uk

It was unbelievable. They had numbers up saying 2000 warheads, 1500 bombers etc. Basically what was stationed there in 70s/80s etc. Then saying that there'd been mutterings of Ukraine president saying he wishes he had that now.

So logic was "this is what he wants, these sort of numbers have been there in the past & this is unacceptable". Just mental.

i agree with other people, i'm failing to see how this is Putin playing a blinder

if he attacks then all bets are off

if he doesnt and just gives up some guff about military exercises then whats the blinder there - Ukraine have gained the latest and greatest anti-tank weaponry, public sympathy for Ukraine is up, Ukraines wishes to be part of NATO has gained a boost home and away, the Baltics will be screaming for the same stuff that NATO have supplied Ukraine

the only thing i have'nt read or heard about is anything from Turkey - if it did turn hot then their airspace would be key, but everything has been Europe, Baltics focused

A few background links for those interested.

Lots of reading but interesting.

2014 Crimea first, similar tactics used by Putin
