Alex Neil - New head coach confirmed

I’ve worked in advertising and communications for 35 plus years. Football clubs traditionally aren’t brilliant at communicating with their fan bases because the audience’s loyalty is among the most guaranteed there is. But having a manager working with the players in the morning and getting round to telling the fans at 8:45 in the evening is still pretty exceptional. There’s probably a reason but they have to be better at managing it. They’ve done a great job at alienating us all week and they MUST know that. Delaying the news just underlines the feeling they couldn’t care less about us.

I reckon the no conference was Neil's idea. More important to get on with the job, taking the one session he could at the AoL, and then heading off with the team to be on the touchline tomorrow. Getting his priorities right. Sorting the team is more important that spouting a few platitudes to journos.
All the club had to do was say something like “ Welcome Alex Neil to SAFC. More to follow….. watch this space!!” which didn’t have to involve Alex Neil at all. But they didn’t, until journos, including the normally timid Nick Barnes, started to have their say, after which coincidentally the club issues its confirmation.
Nevertheless they’ve confirmed it now so things move on.

Any illusion that we’ve been revolutionised and we’re now some forward thinking, well organised and cohesive organisation has been blasted to smithereens.

Well, for most. Still some think all’s wonderful
If the people leading the revolution are amateurs then what would change, cheap is the word that our club is built on it seems to me since the chuckle brothers took over

Does it mean... SAFC always got to give him 12 months compo if we terminate his agreement BUT if he leaves us he cant work for anyone else for 12 months ?
Or he cant smoke made up fags... Roll your own only for 12 months ...

More that anyone taking him has to pay that in compensation.

They said he only finalised his contract this evening

So it’s essentially, perform well enough we’ll give you a big contract, fail and we only have to pay out a years worth of wages? Not terrible business tbh.
No. That contract can remain whole he is here with 2 scenarios.

1) at any time we can sack him with one years wages to him
2) if any other team comes in for him while under this contract, they need to pay one years wages to SAFC as compensation.

it continues until one of those scenarios is met.

if only we had a PR specialist on our board who knows what good looks like, eh?

Aye but that opinion would be something akin to marginal criticism of the club. And some on here don’t like that.

I think we've established that but a win tomorrow and every safc fan on here won't give a fuck what's gone on lately tbh

Itll take a lot more than beating a shite team in Wimbledon to convince me. Beat MK Don's next week and things might start getting back on track.

Can't even see us beating Wimbledon tomorrow mind.

My memory might be playing a trick on me but I’m certain he’s not the 1st safc manager to have a 12 month rolling contract
The only manager that has a 12 month rolling contract that I can recall was Fergie during his later years with Man Utd.
That was on a renewable end-of-season to end-of-season basis IIRC.

Like I say, manage it. We knew he was there from other sources. Be honest, tell people the contract is being worked on but they wanted to get him time with the players as soon as possible. If the contract falls through for any reason the intention still looks good.
