I’m just trying to work out if people are more annoyed at the time it’s taken or the fact it’s not Keane.

For me. The time it’s taken has been disgusting. The club is a mess on and off the pitch. But, Neil is the best of a terrible bunch once Keane out of it. Those saying he’s no better than LJ are nuts

This.

Most, including me, are sour about Keane and the clip of the club atm. Neil is a decent, it safe, appointment and better than Johnson.

It’s not a cop out at all.

It seems we have a certain ‘model’ that we are looking for, which so far hasnt worked and therefore it narrows the choice of managers down quite significantly.

If we are following the model under Speakman whereby we appoint a head coach who isn’t in charge of transfers and looks to play this ‘aggressive, high pressing’ game that he keeps waffling about then i would have preferred Jokanovic, Ismael or Bilic. Bilic probably being unrealistic in our current position. Farke would have also been a candidate but recently got a job in Russia.

If we are going for someone pragmatic to get out of this league now, I think Warnock would have done that this season two weeks ago if appointed. I also think Hughton would have got us organised and solid.

If we are talking more ‘Wild Cards’ I would have gone for John Terry. Sunderland seem to be best when they have a leader to drive the club from the top. We’ve lacked this for years and no manager since Allardyce has been successful.

Fully expect you to pick this apart, but they would have been my choices that initially spring to mind.
Football is all about opinions there's no right or wrong. You only know how any manager will do good or back after they've left everything else is just conjecture.

I mean 99 percent of safc fans thought O'Neil and Moyes would be great appointments because they had pedigree but look how that turned out. Chris Coleman was the next big thing after his Wales job and he turned out a poor appointment

I must admit that considering the meltdown at only 11am today, I'm buoyed by the fact so many are happy with Neil.

I thought he had no chance at 12 noon but now I think he's got a fighting chance.
The simple fact is if he does not get promotion via the play offs ...He is a dead man walking ...he won't get the leeway .....is it harsh probably but thats the way football is nowadays

No excuses from me, if he fails I’ll admit I was wrong, but I’m pretty confident he’ll do well, he’s a good manager.

What I do find sad though, is there seems to be a few on here (you included) who I get the feeling want him to fail. I didn’t like LJ, I never have done, but was desperate for him to succeed. The truth was though, he wasn’t good enough.

Not at all. I'm past saying I'm satisfied when I'm not. Of course I want him to do well, but no chance am I going to say I'm pleased with an appointment like this.

No, you’re talking shite saying literally nobody wanted him before Keane turned it down. In fact it’s not just shite, it’s utter shite.
I will rephrase for Mr Pedantic. A very select few wanted Alex Neil to get the job, The significant majority didn’t want him until he was confirmed to be in final discussions today.
