Not Roy Keane

When's Roy next on TV? Hope he gets asked about all this. Mind you if it's with Dave Jones, he'll have been instructed by the club not to ask him.

I’d wager my mortgage on jones doing what sky tell him to do when he’s working for them and not what the club say he should do

If manchester united get done for match fixing and are brought down to league one and cant get out for a couple of years, would you compare them to Rotherham? i'm not saying we are manchester united. But we certainly are not comparable with the others. You have no idea about football if you think we are the same. Everything is different, pressure, exposure, expectations and history. Sunderland lose a game, and it's crushing. Rotherham lose a game no one gives a fuck. You either don't know what you're talking about, or you're on a wind up.
Think like a 3rd division team and you will stay a 3rd division team.

Hopefully Roy spills beans on the shambles he was thinking of joining.
Far too professional to spill the beans, if asked he’ll say something along the lines of ‘the club have to want you and your vision’ etc and leave it at that, won’t be long till we have the next wave of vermin itk’s telling us why he turned it down etc, but truth is, we’ll never know the real reasons

Keane probably has one more chance of getting back into football management and has decided that we are too much of a risk to his career prospects . You can’t blame him really after watching the last few matches .

Armchair fan mate. No need to try to belittle the massive support that we have built on generations and generations of work hard and play hard. The club are lucky to have us. Very lucky!

All ower sky and he would have been my choice now as well. He fits what Speakeman want from a Coach McCann doesn't Keane doesn't but that's Roy for you. Roy would be my first and only choice just for the lift it gives and the presence..
The chancer Speakman would never have wanted Keane in a million years, he only wants yes men, never going to do anything with this charlatan in the background.

The arrogance of assuming they’d get their man I suppose, should have met whatever demands were put to them, c’unts
I think they always knew he wouldn’t come as his wage and other demands would be far in excess of what we could afford. Personally I think he would have been a disaster.

Won’t it just be fantastic if this modern, fact finding, process following, thorough data crunching genius we have pulls together all his information and arrives at an unemployed manager who was recently sacked by Hull or an unemployed manager who was last sacked by Preston.

What imagination, creativity and bravery that would represent.

Interest from around the world KLD said

Hopefully it is true. People want to start getting their feet back onto planet reality. Keane hasn't managed for years, and actually left here under a bit of a black cloud, and while I'm on Jermain Defoe, whilst being a really nice guy, is way past his sell by date, and signing him has been a massive distraction, both during the closing days of the transfer window, and since his arrival!

The truth hurts. Johnson should still be manager. We should have bought another centre half and a like for like back up striker for Stewart and we would have got promoted.
Johnson failed because of recruitment and injuries.
Club were never going to be able to attract and accommodate anyone any better qualified than him.
Club is a third division club in all respects bar the fans and facilities. Once you remove that the stark facts are credible people will not put their neck on the line to manage in such a high pressure/expectation environment.
Keane was never going to work IMO and we have probably saved ourselves a load of pain. But Iam disappointed with Keane for not seeing earlier it could not work.
The journey would have been exciting for a time Iam sure. Now completely deflated fans won’t give the new guy anytime not when you consider poor Mike Dodds hasn’t been given any understanding.
This has probably broken the back of the fan base for good. The mismanagement is criminal, and it was never Johnson to blame.
We could end up back where we were in early 70s

I did wonder about Keane acting as head coach in a DoF model was ever going to work. After we got hammered by Bolton in his last game (following a string of bad results), apparently Short asked him "What is going wrong on the pitch". Keane openly said that the owner & chairman should never ask the manager about football issues, felt short had crossed the line and he walked.

I didn't think this was reasonable at the time. But, with a DoF a manager has someone taking a lead on the recruitment. Hopefully that is done as a partnership with the manager. Also on footballing matters they will report up to the DoF. Any manager who wants his own way and not to be challenged when things go wrong is not going to work.

It is not clear exactly what the conversation was between short and Keane, Short may have been going on to say "What do you need from the board to fix this?", and never got the chance. We will never know.

But it is things like that set alarm bells ringing for me about Keane's return.
