Not Roy Keane

Embarassed seems to be a popular opinion of this situation for us because of how everything has been handled ? not really we should be used to it by now. I feel relatively unaffected by the whole thing personally , thats what we have come to,a soap opera .It feels like we are in a footballing wasteland at Safc right now.
Just appoint someone for gods sake and try to move on ffs and hope for better.

Here's an actual credible journalist with actual real sources with an updated article on what actually happened. Part of it:

After well over a week of negotiations Roy Keane has rejected the chance to make an emotional return to .

On Wednesday executives at the Stadium of Light had been cautiously optimistic that Keane would be in charge for the game at AFC Wimbledon on Saturday but by Thursday it became clear that contractual difficulties could not be ironed out.

With their first choice having opted to remain in his role as a television pundit and the team in disarray after losing their past three league games, Sunderland reconsidered the other names on their shortlist and Grant McCann emerged as the new frontrunner.

[...]

Meanwhile there were concerns as to how a sometimes infamously contrary and volatile character might have coped when confronted by League One referees, pitches and club facilities.

Have you learned nothing from the appointments of the past? Grayson, Coleman, Ross, Parkinson. Hiring people who have done a job at this level does not work for Sunderland. We need a larger than life character to pull us out. Sunderland is not like any other League one club. Is it not comparable to the likes of Rotherham or f***ing Wigan. You don't know anything if you think we are.

How are we different? Big stadium? We have been in this league 4 seasons and if not careful 5th next year.
Why do we need a big name. I just don't understand.
Check the teams out who have been promoted before us. What ground size and managers did they have?

Poyet supposedly turned us down and now Keane . Look at the names who’ve taken the job . Anyone knows it’s league one wages . Will certain managers be ok with the infrastructure? Have they been put off by something? Both those former managers are very passionate about the game and Safc . I’m damn sure they’ll want the club to match their ambition.

If Methven was anywhere near this , then the club are going to alienate huge chunks of the fan base. What a farcical situation to be in when they could have pretty much guaranteed a 40k gate vs MK Dons . Even after we lose to Wimbledon .

If Keane was asking for crazy wage demands then the club was right in walking away. We've been there before with handing huge wages out without a thought. I wanted Keane as much as anyone but not at the cost of damaging the club. Keane has thrown a good chance away on building his managerial career here but that is his decision at the end of the day.
Not a rumour worth spreading tbf. More likely that he got a whiff of too many rank amateurs telling him about their philosophy while coming across as complete bell ends, totally oblivious to the catastrophic mess this season is now in.

When's Roy next on TV? Hope he gets asked about all this. Mind you if it's with Dave Jones, he'll have been instructed by the club not to ask him.

We might have a bigger fan base and stadium but we're in the same league as these sides for a reason. A big name seems like an attempt at a quick fix for me, which doesn't work for us either.

I think Johnson did an alright job and we need someone to sort the defence and move us further along towards our target.

More likely, nobody has a clue.
The ground
The facilities
The AOL
The history
The trees
The history, I suppose it's how far back you go, we've won fuck all other than the pizza trophy since 1973. Current players and managers won't have a clue about winning a few leagues in the 50s. I appreciate your comment is tongue in cheek.

Disappointing if this is the case , however will see my season ticket out and back the team. If it looks like history is repeating itself then I will not renew. I f I see good things from the team/new manager then I just might.

If manchester united get done for match fixing and are brought down to league one and cant get out for a couple of years, would you compare them to Rotherham? i'm not saying we are manchester united. But we certainly are not comparable with the others. You have no idea about football if you think we are the same. Everything is different, pressure, exposure, expectations and history. Sunderland lose a game, and it's crushing. Rotherham lose a game no one gives a fuck. You either don't know what you're talking about, or you're on a wind up.
