Yeah I think someone else doing the recruitment is the main one.
Watched his Overlap interview with Gary Neville last week once he had become seriously linked and he definitely gave the impression that he would not be willing to work under a Director of Football or anyone of that ilk.

This might seem ott to some but feck it, after expecting Keano back, when we end up with McCann I'm done for the coming months. Sick to death of taking the cheap and dull option, never in a million years is he cut out to manage a club this size. Just wasting time, money and casuing more shite for the fans.

You seem to have fallen into the trap which many have at the moment.
The club is massive. It's of a Premiership level standard.

The team however is not. Just because "the club" is massive, doesn't mean we have the team to match it.
We should, but at present, we do not.

No excuses for that mind, but it just puts things in perspective

Not really that fussed as it was going to end in a messy divorce anyway. It seems we are still in under the old ownership model in some way and it's looking increasingly like a shit show - so if you bring in a manager that wants things doing in his way then it's just going to end in a public scrap.

And tbh he's not touched management for years - his job is TV work now and I'd prefer a manager who sees management as his (or her) main priority.

Other than our massive following, what is massive about us now?

If Keane was asking for crazy wage demands then the club was right in walking away. We've been there before with handing huge wages out without a thought. I wanted Keane as much as anyone but not at the cost of damaging the club. Keane has thrown a good chance away on building his managerial career here but that is his decision at the end of the day.
We need Keane to come out and say what happened

I don't think money will have been the issue. Keane is loaded seemingly wants to get back into management and has an affinity for the club.

I think it'll have either been down to working with a director of football or the budget for next season
