Not Roy Keane

How can everyone blame the club? Don't get my wrong I wanted Keane as manager, however we don't know the circumstances. We might of offered what we believed to be a good deal without overstretching ourselves and Keane has turned it down. People forget Keane has a contract with sky as a pundit, we might not of been able to match wages or contract length what he wanted. Keane hasn't managed for 10 years so again would of been a risk also.

If it's the case not wanting the job, where is the ire directed at him?
We seem to have gone from "Get Keane in!" to "Ah feck Grant McCann" or other potential candidate.

Where is the same fury directed at someone might actually want the job as opposed to someone who the fans may want, but didn't want to come?

Isn't the worst kind of love meant to be unrequited? You want him here, but he doesn't want to be here.
The bottom line to that is, it'll always be the fans getting hurt.

If he doesn't want it, fine. I'd rather him not want it and not come along, than not want it, show up and be half arsed about it.
Keane is a proper football man, who believes that if he is backed he can make the change to football club and in my opinion he is right. Was fully supported by drumaville and not by Short. So why would he want to come to club that wants him merely to coach the players and pick a team when he believes he offers so much more. He'll have wanted as much autonomy as possible.

what a sorry end to a f***ing ridiculous saga

KLD has massively shot himself in the foot

will get behind whoever it now is but f***ing hell it's flat as fuck

I get involved in supporting on a matchday, trust me. I just don't think that Roy Keane returning is like the second coming of Christ. Maybe some of it is living here in Bristol, and being out of the madhouse, if you see what I mean. It's also something that's happened since my stroke - not letting things get to me as much as I can.

The thing is we're supporting SAFC at a unique time in their history, we've never been worse than we are today. People like myself, and no doubt you might have invested 50+ years in both financial and emotional support. It's really grim watching the demise and I suppose we just want something to change and Keane seems the one more likely to effect change. Five year plans and the promise of jam tomorrow while getting humped off clubs who play at The Jonny Rocks or The Wham stadium who were non league not many years ago is really hard to take

Whole process has been a f***ing joke since sacking Johnson, amateurs.

Hope its Neil now and not McCann

Watching Keane talking the other night would suggest the hold up would be his contract, which he said at half time Man U boro game. He stated the club want to want him, he needs to want to come and then said the contract has to be right, then gave of a smile as if to indicate that this was what was the only issue. Length of contract, wages, etc. Wonder what was offered.

He’s not a pauper by any means, if he really wanted the job and was confident in his own abilities the length of contract and wages wouldn’t be deal breakers surely

Hi,

Like a few others who believed they were acting on sound information I am very sorry that Roy Keane has turned us down. My posts which to be fair always stated it was down to RK to accept where posted in absolute good faith based upon the same information received when I advised LJ was going to be sacked.

I have supported this club for over 50 years and whilst we have all had desperate times this is without doubt the worst I have ever felt. The last 10 days have shown how the club runs its day to day business. Sacking LJ which I ultimately agreed with is one thing, but to see how it has been managed since has made us a laughing stock.

I am done I really am.

Sorry again

I suspect he wanted it on his terms and his terms only. that's the man he is. Maybe he wouldn't compromise at all? We don't know.

It was Speakman's and the CEO's job to land Keane...they didn't.

Walked away from Ireland in the World Cup, walked away from us in the prem, finished haalands career from behind instead of facing him up, made a lot of noise in the viera tunnel argument but never took it anywhere on the pitch. There will be more.

In what context does this fit with him being out of contention of being our next manager?
