Where did that come from? Must have missed it. Well if that is true then the club did right in turning him down. When you bring someone in giving into their demands like that, it's a slippery slope.
 

Watching Keane talking the other night would suggest the hold up would be his contract, which he said at half time Man U boro game. He stated the club want to want him, he needs to want to come and then said the contract has to be right, then gave of a smile as if to indicate that this was what was the only issue. Length of contract, wages, etc. Wonder what was offered.

Tbf Keane will never ever get another management job, so it was this or nothing. He’ll be a pundit for ever now.

Teams above us and have been promoted before us don't have big names. Rotherham United have Paul Warne and Wigan have Leam Richardson. Check out their cvs

Average Championship wage is about 35-40K per week. He was being appointed to get us there this season of next.
He's pure box office. He would have returned a chunk of that in bums on seats every week making him an average or cheap Championship player.

And the long term future is vastly more important. If we don't get back to the Prem before the Mags start winning stuff then we are ruined as a club and are doomed to this kind of level for decades. Outside of the City who on earth growing up will choose us over trophy winning mags next door.

I doubt he was asking for £50k a week, he’s achieved the square root of fuck all in his coaching career and this was his only offer of a job so unrealistic to think he was demanding that.

Walked away from Ireland in the World Cup, walked away from us in the prem, finished haalands career from behind instead of facing him up, made a lot of noise in the viera tunnel argument but never took it anywhere on the pitch. There will be more.

He clearly wanted the job, but the club couldn't make an "offer" which was good enough. And I doubt that was anything to do with money.
