WMS Who Owns Sunderland AFC?

Down to RAWA and the local media to press the club on this. The share percentages have come out so let’s see if they come clean.

For me this a case of the cover up being worse than the crime. The people who'd be most upset if SD and CM retain a significant percentage will already believe they do. Even if you've no interest in percentages and voting rights you're still left with the feeling there's something shady going on.

The deal was an acquisition done in the middle of a pandemic. It would be hard to price and it makes sense for the buyer and seller to retain some interest/liability going forward. It's like moving into your girlfriend's house while her ex lives in the spare room. Nobody would chose it but financial necessity might leave you with no other option. It's far better to know about it upfront than finding salmon pants in the laundry.

They are not anywhere near the decisions, they are not on the board.

Also, they cut costs because we were losing £35m a year. Where was that money meant to come from?

Ellis didn’t have 100% initially and no one questioned it.

What about drumaville? Did we know their shareholdings?

No other bidders were close to buying the club. Short wanted the pp money and that was factored into the deal. Yes SD should have came clean, but it was still a great deal for the club, given we had £100m of debt wiped in the process.

I get fans want to know, but not one person has explained what material difference it would make if they did know?

If Kld owned 51% or 91% - how does that change anything ??
Donald and Methven filled safc from top to bottom with non league clowns and failed the academy and the club. They're plan to turn a fast buck failed, they never had the acumen or wherewithal to operate safc successfully and they were forced to sell in quick time. The football league if doing their due diligence properly should never have allowed them to buy safc, anothee pair of chancers. You're obviously one of their mates based on your ceaseless defence of the indefensible.

Great post, only thing I would say is they weren’t forced to sell us, they wanted to from the very first day.

You really don't have any rights whatsoever.

No more than a say on Greggs’ corporate governance because you’ve regularly been in there for a corned beef pastie.

Football is a business, fans are customers. We fool ourselves we are otherwise.
Exactly, watching football is a leisure pastime, bit like going to the cinema. Pay your money, and watch the match/ movie.
Can we demand to be involved in the inner workings of Odeon cinemas, because we go there every week?

The mearest fact that No2 Chancer has been turning up at away games ,sitting in the directors box, indicates that these so called "stakeholders". of which No2 Chancer has to be one, have much more influence and say in the running of the club than simply holding shares.

If they had just said what the truth was all along like people may have went along with it reluctantly. But they pretended they paid more than they did and kept reference to pp quiet and promised the earth which was all part of a big pr plan without substance. All so they could flip the club in the background. When we didn’t get promoted it unravelled. The fact is they lied to us then and dint deserve any trust so it’s fair people are suspicious again and that all this is is investment and not n actual takeover. They need to earn our trust back.not the other way round. The hoops some ppl on here jump through to protect them is mental

Sadly KLD is similarly pulling the wool over our eyes. Whether that is for nefarious reasons or not, time will tell.

Yes it is mental, but the question should be why do certain posters do it for 🤔 i won’t say his name in case he appears, because everytime the board room gets a mention he’s all over the thread like a rash.

The issue with that, while technically correct is that they really don't want the fans to start treating it like another leisure pastime.
If Odeon cinema had served up absolute shite films year after year, you wouldn't be going back every week.

oh yes indeed..i think donalds plan was always to get other investors in after promotion..to work alongside him (ie him running it for them)..the fact he ran it badly foiled that plan...i think he wanted ti be here as a sharehodler for a long time but running it with other, richer people..
