Why. By all accounts Keane wants it. we could have wasted 3 games by there is an appointment. Only 15 games left and the way we are going we might not even make the play offs.

Shambles.
If for no other reason than all the speculation we need a quick decision now. We actually know next to nowt but are surviving on scraps from so-called ITKs and often ill informed journalists.

That’s not an answer to my question. I’d have no problem appointing someone who used to be a youth coach to an important role, if they’d since worked their way up through all the other levels of the game and gained the proper experience required/demonstrated capability in those roles. But that’s not what we’re talking about with Speakman, is it?

How many clubs have placed someone with no experience in senior football whatsoever - zero - in charge of their entire football operation?
How the fuck should I know. I’m sure there are some but I choose not to behave like someone with an obsessive compulsive disorder. You carry on with your campaign and I’ll wait and see what comes of it over time. Just don’t expect any respect.

Apologies for slow response. it would be great to Harry Kane up top and Mason Mount playing a zig zag role in the space behind the front man, but we have to remember we are talking League 1.

Stewart was an astute purchase and probably the best striker in league. Clearly any team would miss their number 1 striker. In terms of goal scorers that was the thinking behind Defoe. The crowd on Saturday tells you the fans have faith in this appointment! He has scored goals wherever he goes. He is viewed as the type of striker that big central defenders in our league hate to play against. Short, sharp sprints running along the line that Pritchard and Neil as well as Geads, Robert’s and Clarke in particular will be able to find. Playing off Stewart’s knock ons is obvious. On top of the front two, Clarke and Roberts ( who is tipped to flourish but was carrying slight knock at weekend) will bring goals - they are not wingers like Geads who only scores from set pieces.

The risk is clearly how long the new players will take to gel. It is difficult to make any definitive judgement in the current climate. Look at Younger at the weekend - played in a winning team against us at the weekend but would struggle to get in our squad of twenty! Once the normal equilibrium returns and confidence returns to the team - either through a couple of wins or a new manager appointment- I think you will see us pile on teams.

My overall point is that Speakman and co. have done a really impressive job in replacing an old and talentless squad ( Scowen, McFadzean, OBrien, Flanagan,Leadbitter, Maclaughlin, Grigg, Dobson etc) into a far younger, more talented squad with an emerging asset value. The direction of travel on recruitment is absolutely right. Time will tell it will all fit into place this season! If Keane is appointed I reckon the squad will gel quickly, goals will flow and results will follow. The presence alone of Keane and Defoe will give us a psychological edge, but only when good results start to roll.
you sir are living in cloud cookoo land ..if stewart get injured we will not make the playoffs .... roberts .hume broadhead defoe will take several games up to speed ,we have a pedestrian midfield and you expect us to score goals without stewart well im telling you now not enough how many strikers do rotheram and wigan have in their squad?it will be a miracle if broadhead is up to speed for the last six games and geedy wont be far behind...im flabbergasted at your optimism! do you work for the club? We simply dont have the games left to play to rely on tinkering with inexperienced players we dont even have a manager ..5/10 for recruitment for this season im afraid.......if we dont go up this season we wont have much of a team next year..im sick of buying players to fit the business model ond not the footballing requirements.

Were we even serious about automatics? Let go a defender who played most games and not replace, sack manager without anyone lined up to help us push on, have dumb and dumber temporarily in charge for at least 2 games.

Shit decisions that, although not exclusively have derailed our push for top 2

No - don’t forget Johnson said at the start of the season promotion wasn’t the aim.

It’s not just this either.

Since the transfer window the club has gone f***ing nuts

Confirmed
Got rid of a defender despite actually needing another

Pitch is dogshit

Proctor and his pet monkey will be in charge for AT LEAST 2 games

We lost to f***ing Doncaster. Worse than that, we were outplayed.

Sacked a manger with blatantly no plan.

Even entertained interviewing Lennon and McCann

Signed a player who’s been nowhere near the team since

Speakman gave THAT interview

We’ve been leapfrogged by MK bastard dons

Possible
Hoff fucked off in the huff

Well get McCann or Lennon

I mean, you couldn’t f***ing write it
And the bizarre thing is we had 38 thousand fans at are last home game

So just to confirm - neither of us can think of a single example of a club our size (or any size) putting someone without any experience of senior football whatsoever in charge of their entire football operation.

If the Keane thing doesn’t go through because of wages then that just shows who is still making the decisions at the top I’m afraid

Really hope the Athletic are right about an appointment tomorrow and that Barnes has just been asked by the club to say next week so that we can all think they're staggeringly incompetent before being pleased to find they're only quite incompetent tomorrow
I think it'll be Keane tbh. If we wanted to go for cheap option surely we'd have appointed it earlier instead of stressing fans out and getting it sorted

Mate, I agree with the main thrust of your message here. I said so much in a post previously regarding our striking potency, which you then tried to ridicule me for by the way.
My issue is that this does not address the obvious lack of defensive capability we have.
And this seems to have been given a complete ignoring by those trusted with the recruitment.
