he wasnt as naturally talented as many of his peers..for example, scholes or giggs..or in the ireland context, damian duff..thats why keane was later coming to the professinal game than those guys..at the sma eage when keane was on a sort of dole scheme in cork..ryan giggs had already become a star for man utd..
Giggs was an exceptional talent which is completely different but Keane was a whole year younger than Scholes when he made his top flight debut, and only 8 months older than Duff. He also made more league appearances in his debut season than either of them.

Scholes made his Man United league debut age 19 years and 10 months and played 17 league games in his first season.

Damian Duff made his Blackburn debut aged 18 and 2 months in the last game of the 96/97 season. In his first full season he played 26 top flight games.

Keane moved to Forest aged 18 and 10 months and played 35 top flight games in his first season.

I doubt very much Kildare is CM, I remember a while ago him saying his father told him about the attitude of a player in the 1955 semi final and I posted a reply saying my father saying exactly the same . I doubt very much if CM would know of such minor detail.

so qualifications matter then?

I've got absolutely no idea whatsoever where you're going with this.

However, yes - of course. That said, they aren't all that matter. As Speakman, for example, is proving. Having a load of coaching certificates hasn't stopped him being shit at his current job, has it?

also the contract length..i mean if he is being asked to give up long established commitments for a temporary one here...ie six months..thats a big sacrifice..potentially..

I’ve said a few times, i’d be amazed if he accepted a contract to the end of the season. Only way i see that is if there is a guaranteed clause for an extra 18-24 months in his favour, i.e. he can decide whether to activate it.

Don't agree with this really. He was a superb player & had buckets of natural talent. He wasn't as tricky as the others mentioned, but he was very technically gifted. Gary Neville said as much recently about why he was such an inspiration
