Roy Keane

People making assertions left right and centre that it's one side holding up the deal because of a proposed wage or contract length.

No one apart from a couple of individuals know ffs.

Press haven't a clue.

For all we know he could have agreed and is getting his ducts in a row or sorting out his backroom staff. Could be absolutely anything.

It's pure agonising aye but pointless inventing scenarios. Could be a major thing or could be something laughably trivial that just needs sorting out for all we know.

Sorry but if this is case it’s ridiculous. That would mean reality being Sunderland’s promotion bid is on hold because of Roy Keanes tele commitments, if true, wow
Farce, it really is
Proves he’s not as desperate to come back as we think if this is true
It’s a farce on the clubs side not ours; no person in the right mind would take a job for 6 month and jeopardise a long term television career. Say he gets £10K a week it’ll be £200K, over the next few year if he sticks in at punditry it’ll be 10x that, it’s not about him but he’ll want a bit more security

Didn't ROI make it to the knock out stages of the Euros under O'Neill and Keane?

And it's well documented why a small number of poor professionals have had trouble with Keane - he won't accept their mediocre attitude.
the professionals that had a problem with him were harry arter and jon walters. walters has never had a rep for being a poor professional. Kenae alleged they were faking injury-the miedical science team told keane the players were injured...the players didnt like being called lmalingerers..particularly walters who hasd always shown up for ireland.
As Niall Quinn pointed out, its a bit orinic keane calling out others for not teaining hard enough for ireland...when he played himself..keane didnt show up when the rest of the squad did (quinn said the sqaud went sunday-keane went tuesday..in quinns words "so how would keane know how hard we are working..he isnt there"
keane wasnt as inclined to show up for friendly games as a player..walters was..who was malingering?

yes ireland qualified for that tournament as they had for the one before...keane didnt impress though..he was supposed to get the job full time,,,,but if he is going to slander players..best not leave him charge of them eh?

Tbf the job Keane has atm he would have to be a bit nuts to come here and leave it. Fortunately I feel he is slightly crazy.

Amber when the itks post an update
I'd imagine being stuck in a television studio ultimately talking about the job other people are doing instead of doing it somewhere himself would drive somebody like Keane nuts.

Said it before and I’ll say it again. If we get Keane it says a lot about KLD’s ambitions.

Keane will want GOOD money to come. Guesses at my work (all football fans) ranged from £20k to £40k a week. My guess was the lowest at £20k. He is a top earner, he isn’t going to come for pennies. Players in the National league are earning £5k+ a week.

The coming days will be interesting and will tell us a lot.
if he wants 20k a week there is no chance..not in league one...the whole club turns over £1m..and he wants more than £1m of that for himself?

This the dissapointing part that as much as weve heard all the talk about a progressive plan been installed in the club, we have sacked the current manager with no plan in place at all. This is coupled with the season been at a critical stage - in a season when promotion in the priority where nothing ilse is good enough. This is not good enough at all from the owner and speakman if we are waiting for him to finalise his existing obligations......the plan should have been a 2-3 day turnaround at most to install a new manager

The so called plan is non existent
i suspect what happened was..they HAD ahortlist of Mccann lenon and neil, and were progressing with that..then keane indicated his interest..and theyare essnetially running two differet recruitment processes..one with keane and one if keane says no..

They couldn't afford to give him the job full time, and they were always going to be moved on quickly once the responsibility for paying their wages fell back on to the FAI.

And yeah - Jon Walters and Harry Arter. Those two notorious high achievers.

If this is true then you’re right it is a farce but not on the clubs part.

Any negotiations over Keane’s TV commitments means he’s not 100% focused on the job here and we should walk away and appoint someone who is.
he has to neogtaite itman..he has legally binding contracts with sky, itv and sky bet at least,,he cant just fuck them off..even if he wanted to..

Tbf nobody knows until they actually know if you know what I mean, you know.
Don’t listen to that melt Luke Edwards. He posted a video of himself dancing and I just made the remark “no wonder she left you for a woman” and he blocked me 🤷🏻 Truth hurts sometimes

jon walters had an excellent career as a professional footballer at the top leve0 and like keane..probably wasnt the most naturally talented but made up for that with work ethic.....if keane turned down the ireland job because money..that would indiacte he isnt very commited to his country..the very thing he accused others of..

I just meant in the meantime and if it went beyond the 6 month it’s just a mess I think
Grimly predictable that the Winter World Cup would negatively impact Sunderland, despite having little to no involvement. Much like Euro 2016 did.

International footy can be scrapped completely for me.
