Absolute rubbish.

Unless you're Gary Linker the pundits get paid peanuts in comparison.
sigh..roy keane is an after dinner spoeaker...i once booked rob brydon to do after dinner speaking..he was eight grand and was shit at it..jimmy carr was 25k..
do you think if brydon is 8k..keano could get 10k?
do 2 of those a week for forty weeks a year..he is already trousering £800k..
thats before his TV contract with ITV and Sky are considered and his sponsorship revenue from skybet and anyone else...
safc manager wont be on more than 400k id have thought..
a pundit of his profile will be getting several grand a game...
Nor has Keane or are you ignoring his assistant and international roles?
he wasnt a manager there..was a disaster at them as well. could have ruined two ireland players careers with his antics.

This wouldn’t ordinarily be a problem but the issue is, especially for ITV is that the World Cup is next winter rather than the summer, therefore Sunderland will probably be playing during this time

Sorry but if this is case it’s ridiculous. That would mean reality being Sunderland’s promotion bid is on hold because of Roy Keanes tele commitments, if true, wow
Farce, it really is
Proves he’s not as desperate to come back as we think if this is true

keane wont be coming for money..he will ear far more, like four times more at least, doing the various jobs he has now, than any league one lub could ever pay him..

Which is exactly the problem, he would have to take a pay cut which I'm sure he would gladly do to get back into management, but how big a pay cut - he'll think he is cutting by a huge amount (which he would be) but the club will be finding the amount hard to swallow as it will be way above anything comparable. a 50% cut, for example, would seem generous to him perhaps - but if the club respond with "will you take an 80% cut" then it could easily flounder. That's before any of the issues about support staff and other conditions from either side.

The massive concern now is that the fans have come to believe that energy and excitement will be injected and an appointment like McCann may add neither of these, certainly not both. IF we can afford it the club needs to grit it's teeth and pay - hoping that the results and increase in attendances last long enough to keep it all afloat. We have the talented players when it fires, but its pointless if we don't have someone who makes them perform as a team week in week out.

I wasn't totally sold on the idea when he was first touted, now I shudder at the consequences of the alternatives.

Said it before and I’ll say it again. If we get Keane it says a lot about KLD’s ambitions.

Keane will want GOOD money to come. Guesses at my work (all football fans) ranged from £20k to £40k a week. My guess was the lowest at £20k. He is a top earner, he isn’t going to come for pennies. Players in the National league are earning £5k+ a week.

The coming days will be interesting and will tell us a lot.

'The contract has to be right' was what he said 2 business days ago ffs.

Not 2 weeks ago.

These things have to be carefully thought through, checked through by the solicitor then counter signed.

He was working all weekend.

Be here within the next few days if he wants it (and the board aren't playing games). Be fine man.

It is ridiculous and is not the case.

also the contract length..i mean if he is being asked to give up long established commitments for a temporary one here...ie six months..thats a big sacrifice..potentially..

Didn't ROI make it to the knock out stages of the Euros under O'Neill and Keane?

And it's well documented why a small number of poor professionals have had trouble with Keane - he won't accept their mediocre attitude.

also RK actually has contractual obligations to work out with sky and ITV..that could be the hold up
This the dissapointing part that as much as weve heard all the talk about a progressive plan been installed in the club, we have sacked the current manager with no plan in place at all. This is coupled with the season been at a critical stage - in a season when promotion in the priority where nothing ilse is good enough. This is not good enough at all from the owner and speakman if we are waiting for him to finalise his existing obligations......the plan should have been a 2-3 day turnaround at most to install a new manager

The so called plan is non existent

in terms of recruitment Stewart was an excellent buy. Dajaku is decent. Roberts and Clarke have the potential to be very good additions. McGeady will be back soon. Defoe was a good short time addition to give us experience upfront. Broadhead will hopefully play the last 10-12 games. That’s six attacking players who should be available in next 3 months plus Broadhead. How many were you expecting us to have.

Goals have not been a problem this season. We have got rid of Hawkes OBrien and Diamond who added 1-2 goals combined And added players with goals in them. surely that’s some kind of progress.
Its a weird one as I pointed out that last season ot was actually goals that let us down. We relied completely on Wyke and of he didn't score we were fucked. The other teams that got promoted all had 3/4 players on more than ten goals. We had one.

This season its flipped, we've got goals in the squad but now defensively we are shit. It's much harder to get that balance right than most think, and unfortunately we now have no manager to fix it and no transfer window to get players in to balance it.

6m contract is a non starter and weakens any managers position as the players know he will be gone as soon as he's landed if they do f@ck all...an 18m contract is entirely different and gives the power to the manager.

If this is true then you’re right it is a farce but not on the clubs part.

Any negotiations over Keane’s TV commitments means he’s not 100% focused on the job here and we should walk away and appoint someone who is.
