Wiki says none, Transfermarkt says 1. Still doesn’t make him a Mag. Born in Winchester, played 640 career games and only 1 was for the Mags. Has practically zero connection to them, spent longer coaching us than he did playing for them.
Wiki only does league appearances already put the game up he played in

Aye - Defoe. Johnson didn’t want him so they took the decision to sack him off the back of the Bolton game. The fact they are scrabbling around over a week later trying to bring someone in shows they didn’t have a f***ing clue what they were doing and I doubt they have now.
Genuine question but on average how long is the gap, in season, between a sacking and appointment. I doubt it’s often less than a couple of weeks but am completely guessing.

Do I detect that you are not overly impressed by the work of our DoF in the last week?
Ha! I'm trying not to be too harsh and to reserve judgement until the appointment is actually made. But considering the DoF is supposed to have a big say in the types of coaches we should be headhunting, I'd have to question what he's actually there for if he ends up producing a shortlist no different to one we'd expect to see if Donald was still running the show.

The two centre halves are always far too apart. Bolton and yesterday we were continually dkne with thr ball getting forward early and laid off to runners into the box. You could have driven several tankers through the gap. Its Sunday League stuff.

Watching us first half and the positioning of Winchester playing the right back/right sided centre half role it's no wonder we're all at sea. Even when we went back to something more orthodox like you say the gaps are too big and defending in an organsied system is something which isn't coming naturally for them, hence the nerves and being pulled around easily.

I get we want to play an expensive system and the idea may be to press higher up the pitch, but we're a bit allover the place at the moment and people have been suggesting the individual errors that result arent/weren't anything to do with Johnson.

Contrast that to MOTD last night and what Danny Murphy was saying and pinpointing about what Hodgson likes and how he wants to be set up in central areas without the ball (similar to Allardyce) and it couldn't be more different. Clear as day why Watford got their first clean sheet in something like 30 games and clear why we've been conceding easy goals for too long.

Spot-on mate. There's too big a gulf between last midfielder and central defenders and they are generally more than 10 yards apart so its not hard to plan against. If you've got willing runners from midfield (who also aren't tracked and continually run off the shoulder of ours) then they can waltz into the box at their leisure.

Got to be tonight. Need to be preparing for Tuesday night.
Unless it's a complete bluff from Speakman I don't think the new manager will be installed before next weekend. I don't think it's going to be Keane. Although a week ago I would have thought it madness to give Keane the job, I think he'd be the most exciting of the names mentioned and could provide the dynamism to take us up this season.
Of all the likely candidates I believe Lennon is the worst. Of course the last two times it's turned out to be someone whose name hadn't been mentioned and never should have been.
