there are many others who have come through at birmingham...
Some good young players have come though at Birmingham. Not sure how much of that was down to Speakman, but fair enough there have and the club have survived off the back of selling them. They are also now in financial disarray

Best case scenario it’s just posturing about having other options to keep negotiations balanced after what Keane said.

Anything more than than and we are about to see a monumental fuck up.

I suspect we've already seen one, i.e. the centre back debacle. Cop for this arse covering bollocks.

"When asked about Sunderland’s centre-back situation, Speakman told the : “In terms of numbers at centre-back, we had four and we’ve still got four. Bailey is about a week to 10 days away."

An absolute mess that has the potential to completely wreck our chances should we reach the play offs.

I’ve got no issue at all with Speakman running the academy. That’s what his experience entails and it’s what he’s (seemingly) good at.

However for me, you’re asking for trouble if you take control of first team affairs, away from the person who is ultimately responsible for results. If the job offer is “I’ll recruit the players for you, and I’ll decided how the team is going to play/the “philosophy”, but if results go south you’re the one getting sacked”, then you’re not going to attract the sort of strong personality that the club needs to finally sort this shot show out. All we’re going to attract are “yes” men who are desperate for a job.

I hadn’t realised he had that much responsibility. Shouldn’t be getting involved in the first team at all other than the administrative side of signing players and, when required, the next first team coach. If Keane comes in we’ll play the type of football Keane wants to play. Hopefully very uncomplicated, winning football

Warnock is now 2 / 1 second favourite for the job
Said yesterday if Keane is a no go, Warnock is a must with regards to trying to salvage something from this season
He’s got nothing to lose, will toughen them up, defence won’t be playing in their own half for sake of it, has the know how/experience for play offs.
Is known as good man manager building confidence in teams
Any of these mcann Esque appointments are on hiding to nothing, quite simply it just won’t work

That irritating word 'philosophy' and the bullshit that football has moved on.
It's a simple game complicated by involvement from those that think they are some sort of iconic guru reinventing what is and always will be a simple game of football.

He deserves criticism, without a doubt.

But surely people can see that sacking key figures - whether it be sporting directors, DoF’s or managers - so frequently and after very little time is arguably our biggest problem?

Every time someone gets their feet under the table, as soon as a rough patch hits it gets emotional and we end up tearing up the whole blueprint to start again with someone with vastly different ideas and then it’s another 2-3 year timescale.
Id agree if there was a logical strategy. We have filled our squad with wingers when we don't appear to play a system with wingers. We don't have enough defenders. We don't have any cover for Stewart.

The squad is completely unbalanced. That's Speakman's responsibility and he has f***** it. He is messing up the head coach recruitment as well. He is communicating poorly. He has never done this role before and he appears to be making pig's arse of it.

Think the DoF model makes sense but they need to be competent. Where is the evidence that Speakman is competent?

Correct

We’ll said, couldn’t agree more.

It was like Johnson listening to him yesterday patronising trying to convince the masses their recruitment process is some sort of genius process they are going through, the ‘we aren’t panicking’ comment is nothing short of disgraceful. 38,000 turned up yesterday which id great but also has now worked against them, percentage won’t come back, rest of us who go regular are now panicking because it requires input immediately
Speakman hasn’t been scrutinised because you hardly here from him now yiu do it’s painful hearing him if I’m honest
