Speakman's had a complete mare over the past week - if we need to replace him, fine. I wouldn't be doing that yet mind. We certainly shouldn't be scrapping our plan because Roy bloody Keane can't work with anyone above him.

Not sure it’s that he can’t work for anyone, he has in the past. They just seem complete opposites. It might work who knows.
I find it hard to believe that Speakman would pick Keane either.

Seen us play recently? If the teams in 8th and 7th win their one and two games in hand they are just 1 and 2 points behind us. We are f***ing terrible, every single time a team attacks we look like conceding. We are run on the footbal side by total f***ing losers, another will shortly be appointed as the new Head coach.

He had to come out and calm down the Keane frenzy. He’s generally brought in decent players. you can’t fault the entire club structure for taking a bit of time to consider managerial options albeit I think it was crazy to get rid at the time we did. But hes the Director of Football and we have conceded 8 EIGHT goals and scored 0 NONE in two vital games . Now we are pi***ing about with a new coach appointment .

He might have some good ideas about young players for the development squad, his duties should be limited to that.

Michael Kennedy, lawyer. Acted for Keane, Quinn and a whole host of other Irish lads. He passed away about 18 months ago.
 
Listened to the pre match build up on the radio as was working today. Completely agree with a comment on there that the club have handled this badly. The timing is questionable, but more importantly leaking the info about Keane has put them in a very tight space. If Keane is not appointed, whoever gets the job has an almighty task to win fans over. It could be argued almost impossible. The job of getting this club promoted this season, at this point in time, is a difficult one as it is.

Think they have handled this really badly.

The last week has been shite with some terrible decisions. I would be surprised if we don't make the Playoffs, because this team has veered all season from looking like bottom half L1 fodder to automatic promotion contenders. We will turn a corner and win games, because that has been the pattern of the season and I don't see why that would suddenly change.

It's a harsh realisation, again, for some of our fans that we don't have the best squad in the league. You can blame Speakman for some of that, but this is year one of our new setup being in place. Everyone wanted a young squad in the summer, and that's what we've got. No more L1 plodders like Power, Wyke, Scowen etc. It was pretty clear that we were a bit short in the summer of some young players who had L1 experience. Why we've suddenly been able to find close a million now that we didn't have in the summer is a question for KLD and not Speakman tbh.

We could replace Speakman in the summer, but we definitely shouldn't abandon the new philosophy just because Roy Keane apparently won't work with anyone who doesn't fit within his very narrow criteria of football exec.

The only person he worked successfully with was Quinn, who basically just wrote all the cheques he wanted. He'll find it very difficult to get a job in a similar setup now. There's a lot of people who talk and act like Speakman running clubs across the country.

He has a worked for loads of people, has been an assistant twice in his last two jobs.
I’m sure if he really wants to be a manager he will have to work for someone, I just don’t see it him being a good match with Speakman. Could be totally wrong I don’t know either of them.
