It's a massive own goal if it does end up being some unemployed journeyman shithouse (basically any of the other names reported), because it will look for all the world like this has been Speakman's doing.

It’s not desire for me, at least not the main problem. They look devoid of confidence or any sort of clarity of what they’re supposed to be doing. It’s completely rudderless, lacking leadership and direction on and off the pitch.

His first season was class. Kept us in the Premier which was good, but the cracks soon appeared.

Some of those wanting him back will no doubt be the same people who abused Peter Reid, a man who achieved better results.

Seems to me it’s because he’s a big name. That I’m afraid is going down a mag like road and that worries me.
