Don't know if I'm just being overly cynical after the years of Short and Donald incompetence but there's something about KLD and Speakman that has left me deeply unconvinced by them from Day One and that interview has done fuck all to change that.
Personally I wouldn't take that interview too seriously, there's no way almost a week after getting rid of Johnson that they're only sticking a few names together now.

Speakman is just giving lip service in that interview. If they don’t appoint Roy now there will be hell on.
I listened to that interview carefully and although he was talking in the present tense, I also got the sense he was describing the last few days in general in terms of what’s been happening. It’s much further down the line imo, he’s managing expectations and also keeping all options open in case for whatever reason it does break down with Keane.

Not sure thst interview says much. I'm wondering whether he's sat down to do it just to calm everybody and expectations.
If Keane had already been appointed I don't think he'd have done the interview in the first place, he already spoke to them two earlier in the week. Hope I'm wrong obviously.

Just hampering expectations before the helicopter landing at 4:55

It comes across to me like they sacked Johnson to bring Defoe in and didn’t have a scooby what to do after that. They’re trying to make out like they’re doing an in depth manager search when in reality no decent manager will take over for what’s likely to be 15 games only. West Brom had their new manager in place 2 days after sacking their old one and were looking like waiting 2 weeks. Madness.

I think a key part of it was that he emphasised how all the speculation is making Sunderland relevant again in the media and I think today we're still riding the Defoe wave, lets drag out the manager stuff a bit while we're still getting attention.

Keane will be appointed in the next day or two man, settle down.
