If Keane does come I think the most important and fascinating thing will be who he brings to work alongside him.

I always thought he’d have lasted longer last time if he’d had a real experienced number two to bounce things off.

It could also be a real test of the club’s ambition.

If Keane does come and gets us promotion, you can bet your life his aim next season wouldn’t be to achieve stability in the championship!

Agreed but Tony has had 10 years in the PL since then

Who said we haven’t?

The game today has already gone nuts for Defoes return, and based on hype that Keane may be returning. He also has a couple of media obligations to get out the way.

I believe if it’s not done, it’s just about putting pen to paper, the ground will sell just as many next home games for his “official” homecoming.
Eh? How have we signed Keane? Keeping it a secret to fool Donny or something? Why would we sign him and not announce it? I think it’s clear that he won’t be managing the side today

Apart from his first stint with your club, he's been a bit of a disaster to be fair.
When he took over Sunderland he was a player's draw. A top player for a massive club now going into management.

He once had the ability to draw players into his setup, backed by the owner. Will he again?

Since then he's basically failed or walked away.
I'm not saying it'll happen again if he comes to your club but I just wonder if he's the right man for the job.

This all seems like a knee-jerk reaction by the owner who appears to be offering emotional returns in order to fix something that wasn't really broken.

Good luck if you do get him. I'm not trying to put the scud on anything, just giving my opinion looking from outside in.

Dunno what people are worried about he’s never going to mama beg again unless he takes this job of course he’s coming that smirk says it all plus we are gonna get 40k today imagine what jeans gonna get the owner isn’t stupid he’s giving the fans what they want

Bog off

Reckon if Keano does sign we must have some serious financial backing as don't think he would touch it if we have no plans for bringing in more quality players in the summer.
Unless he just fancies a 17 game jolly

At the risk of being childish, I'd much rather have Keano than your Eddie, by a mile.

I'm going to get pelters but I agree with you. I feel like appointing Keane is an appointment based on the fans reaction and pleasing them, and not whether he'll be actually successful or not. No one really knows much about his coaching ability because he's been out of the game as an actual manager for so long, and his last stint was dreadful. I love Keane for what he did last time round, but there are big question marks over this for me. If he had managed a different club and took them to the premier league 15 years ago, then I don't think he'd even get a look in tbh.

We're all acutely aware it could go either way, but as I've said a few times over the last few days, he's one of two blokes who completely changed the dynamic of the club in my lifetime. He made us believe it could go to the very top.

Bringing his standards and reputation to the club alone makes me believe in more than just getting out of league one.
