It must be a difficult contract to work out for Keane. I presume he'll have to settle for league 1 salary for us to stay within the salary cap but negotiate a huge bonus for promotion, which I think is allowed ?
He’ll be rewarded if he succeeds. I don’t think the basic salary will be an issue.

He wants it, we want it, only thing is does the board want it.If they are, or have offered a six month deal he’ll tell them to fuck off don’t waste my time .

We did beat boro at home. That was early on when Keane was still here

Stoke, Fulham & Hull all at home were the others under Sbragia
We drew 1-1 at home to Spurs and they scored in the last second. For some reason we had everyone up for a corner. Such a Sickner!

I think there obviously was an issue with Short and that almost certainly contributed to Keanes decision but he looked like a man on the edge and will certainly have taken in to account the fact he was very likely to be sacked before he walked so I’d say both are true.
Yes he says on that interview with Neville he didn’t like the way he was spoken to by short guess he didn’t like him

The Northampton cup game was in September. He left in December.

Yes we beat the mags & boro early on in the season. They were even worse than us.

We were 9th in the league after we beat the Mags at the end of October, had an awful run but then went back up to 11th in the league after we beat Blackburn. Lost the games following Blackburn and he went. That was all in the space of under 5 weeks.

As far as SAFCs form was in the top flight over that decade, on reflection it wasn’t that bad of a run. I haven’t forgotten how bad the Bolton fixture was though and he was right to walk when he did.

I very much welcome him back, we’re a different club, he’s a more experienced bloke and we need a character of his standing IMO.

Only gonna be in chargre of a max 16 games, maybe less if he misses Tuesday games

this is my point, I think he will want longer

I dont think he will wanna come in on a 6 month deal which ends if we dont go up

he will, like most people, want assurances we want him longer
I agree, I can see very little value for him coming here on a 6 month deal. He won't get the staff he wants and he won't have an opportunity to put his mark on the side. 18 months minimum for me.

There's a very real possibility that we won't go up this season now, no matter who's in charge. I hope the board are seeing the bigger picture with this appointment.

I was gutted when he left first time. Genuinely thought he’d make us a top 6 team and then go on to Man U after fergie. Thanks to his punditry he’s still one of the biggest names in world football.

Bizarrely despite the talk of DOF and a potential issue with it, I think it’ll allow him to purely work with the players, not have the risk of bringing wrong characters and he can just concentrate on what really matters.
In his talk with Neville he said he didn't want just to survive in the premiership, he wanted to challenge for the top six after a couple of years, then said maybe he was too ambitious as Short shot him down and spoke to him disrespectfully, something he didn't tolerate. Just like the Ireland squad when McCarthy said, "We're not going to win it, J at enjoy yourselves" Keane left and said it was a waste of time if you're not even going to challenge.
That's his level of ambition and determination.
