Roy Keane

He left cos the new owner was an arsehole.

This is completely different.
The new owner, I guess you mean he signed up under Niall and fell out under Short. Which is all true, but lets not kid ourselves that Keane was totally innocent in it all.
And please don’t think I don’t want him not to succeed, of course I do, but I’m also entitled to have a bit of cynicism

My take on what he (and Wrighty) said earlier is there’s been discussions but some stuff he doesn’t like the sound of I.e. the terms/length of contract or his level of control within the coach/manager/DoF set up

Have to say objectively, I’m really not convinced Keane is for us and I think most of the board is being led by their hearts over their heads. Since he managed us years back, he really hasn’t pulled up any trees since. I’m not sure his abrasive personality is what a team composed of lots of young players in their first breakthrough season need also.

Saying this though, at the same time I’m lost for a name I think would fit from those available and realistically interested. Going to get pelters here, but I’d of kept with Johnson.

Yeah I think I would have kept Johnson too if given the choice. And I'm someone that never wanted him in the first place but the timing of his sacking was mad.

But ...

Johnson was not sacked to replace him with Keane. Something has gone wrong with LJ behind the scenes IMO and we are now left managerless with 3 months to go.

What we need is a new manager bounce. Our squad IMO is good enough for automatic promotion, all we need is for someone to organise us and get us over the line. Keane will also unite the crowd which could be the difference.

I remember when we played Barnsley away under Keane when we took over the ground. I was watching Sky with Jeff Stelling and Reid was covering our game. He said "when sunderland fans are like this, they are virtually unbeatable"

That is exactly what we need over the next few months. Everything else can wait until the summer

What did he do wrong? Ask for the security of a longer contract when short wanted him to move back up here? He had 6 months left, what would he move for 6 months?

Short knew what he was doing, he forced Keane out because he couldn’t handle someone with a spine. In hindsight that should of told us all then that the bloke was going to be a complete disaster with the odd highlight here and there.

Because of him we’ve gone full f***ing circle and ended up in the 3rd tier of English football, he then sold us to 2 cowboys who used the clubs money. We are now relying on a 25 year old owner and the man who Short forced out to get us to the championship.

Keane done nothing wrong first time round and the comparison between him and Benitez is light years apart. We clamour for him back because all them years ago he took us on a ride that was unforgettable. It’s only been close to being matched once with that league cup run.
