There was a few suggestions that he wouldn’t be appointed until after the game -no idea why that would be mind?

My thought was that they could delay it to reap the benefits twice over.

Get a 35000+ crowd for Defoe’s homecoming and the hysteria surrounding Keane’s potential appointment, then announce Keane after this weekend and guarantee themselves another massive crowd for his first game back.

Roy if the Tory chancers get in your way

remember what your mentor cloughy said about directors

your at your strongest in your first 3 months

get them sorted son & come back we need you

In my mind all of his first season signings worked and I think they were Roy Keane signings rather than the owners / chairman (Drumaville / Quinn)

Miller had Celtic and Man Utd history - big success
Wallace celtic - big success
Varga celtic - injuries so can’t really judge
Kavanagh - Ireland - big success
Connolly - Ireland - big success
Yorke Man Utd - big success
Evans - Man Utd - massive success
Edwards - big success

Can’t remember if there were any others in the championship season

He also got the best out of Leadbitter and nyron and even Murphy probably played his best stuff for us under Keane

Then his signings the following year (chopra, mcshane, higginbotham…?) did the job and it was only when the likes of chimbonda and diouf appeared that it went a bit wayward but I felt it was more off the pitch that it went wayward

The big question for me is will he buy into KLD and Speakman’s “project” or will he want more autonomy.

his player selection, motivation, tactics are all absolutely fine with me
Kavanagh was a bloody good signing

Makes sense to be fair —as you say won’t take focus from Defoe and Bradley ( apart from the obvious torture of the fans for the wait and questioning)

We’ve got 2 away games after tomorrow, surely they aren’t going to wait a few weeks especially if we were to drop points in those games.

but equally likely would be an even bigger crowd on saturday and then sustained larger crowd for the remaining games. Makes no sense to sit on this if it's a done deal

Reading the Speakman thing last night, I do wonder if he and the hierarchy want too much to say in first team affairs. And I do wonder whether that would wash with Keane.

IF however they've seen eye to eye in conversation and they're on the same page with Keane with regards to how we want to play etc, then it maybe won't be so much of a problem.

Think he means announce it after the game sat -bumper away followings and next home game

Think ground is almost full now anyway ?
Concourse is issue due to staffing and safety

Simpson
Stern John
Stokes
Didn't Simpson go on to have a decent career elsewhere?

I thought Stern John looked as if he had some potential on the few times I saw him play.

Stokes, another 'next big thing' was a complete waste of space, both on and off the pitch, as he proved when he went up to Scotland.
