England Women's Ashes Squad 2022

I watched most of England's 2nd innings but switched off when Brunt was out. Expected them to get beat....they should have won but so few of them will have had experience of playing in that sort of situation you can understand how it went pear-shaped so quickly. Nonetheless it was thoroughly entertaining. Sophia Dunkley looks a real talent

So many on cricket twitter demanding more tests for the women's game  including players. Great to see.

Not a single test match organised however for any nation.

Would personally love to see more of it here preferably at grounds which get ignored for internationals. Would be more affordable too

Be good to see test cricket at the riverside again

Going slightly at a tangent, The Hundred was a big success for the womens game, putting them in front of a whole new free-to-air audience. I wouldn't be surprised if they scrapped the mens version in the near future but kept this, as financially and PR wise it looks a winner.

It'd really help a lot more if we won the ODI's 3-0, and grabbed back the Ashes, too.

I’m not here to slag it off honestly

I just can’t get into it at all not at any level

Just all the cricket people on Twitter I follow for work all seem to love it. Does this make me a bad person like?

I tried watching it but the fast bowling was so so slow.

Interested to know peoples thoughts

That doesn’t make you a bad person, your a wanker anyway.

But Seriously neither can I, I watch the women footy when england are at a WC but other than that it’s the only woman’s sport I watch I think. Hard when you are used to a certain standard imo but I’m happy millions are now enjoying the woman’s side to sports.

I love watching it. But I'm biased cos daughter plays

Cricket has an issue that the pace of the ball doesn't come across on TV. Stand in front of a bowling machine at 95mph it's terrifying, that just doesn't come across on TV.

I don't know how you resolve that.

No I am a wanker that’s not up for debate mate

Aye I think cricket for me at test level is about 90mph bowlers and blokes who spin it a mile

It’s a harder game. I dunno I just wanna see the best and I watch bowlers in that bowling 70mph and it reminds me of me scoring 50 against Wimbledon 2nds

I like the publicity and attention it gets and more woman playing and watching absolutely

So I’m not against it but when I watch it it’s just so so slow

Yeah that’s true

Good on your daughter btw

Aye I faced a 90mph bowling machine on a stag do and I broke a rib and had 2 bruises on my arm that lasted longer than the county championship season

It’s a good point. It looks faster at the ground than on tv

Was at lords for archer v smith and was sat side on

Mad. I mean I’d be dead if I was smith

same as the football really, one thing I will say with woman’s sports really taking off I think they will be improving rapidly year on year whereas I feel men’s football is pretty much as good as it will get. They have a lot of catching up to do so in 20/30 years time I think there will be a noticeable difference.

Absolutely aye

As I say the more lasses playing cricket is mint

I took my 7 year old niece to cricket course this summer and she loved it, and I was loving it as I thought a potential cricketer in the family would be class

I think my point is that I don’t wanna patronize people by pretending it’s really good the international sport when I’m watching it when I really think it’s shite

And if I’m being brutally honest when I’ve watched women's international cricket . I thought it was shite.

Worse than the club cricket I played

Na doesn't make you a bad person at all. It's very different to the men's game so you don't necessarily automatically like it. Same with football - I can't watch women's football.

I do love the women's cricket mind
Slow start. Need this partnership (Knight & Sciver) to stick around

That LBW decision was disgraceful. Its irrelevant really and easy to just ignore but it was Kate Cross so I'm absolutely fuming

Another defeat with plenty overs left, i think what happened to the men's team needs doing to the women's team too. Always messing up easy run chasers

They gave us the best test match of the entire winter, mind. An absolute thriller with all 4 results possible going into the last two deliveries of the entire game.

Australia are clearly a class apart in the white ball games but test cricket seems to be a bit closer between the two. England were helped by a brave Australian declaration, no doubt, but we seemed to be much more confident over the four days than before or after the test.

I played in a DSL game against Durham City and Danni Hazell was playing for them.

Our Aussie pro - a lad called Lyndsey Cullen - was disgusted with the fact she was allowed to play. She was bowling when he went in at number three. Off his first ball, he charged down the track at her, smashed it straight back, and she took a superb diving catch to dismiss him for a Golden Duck.

When he stormed back into our dressing room there was total silence until one lad, sitting at the back nonchalantly making a stack of roll-your-own fags, piped up with 'So.... Not only do you have a girls name......'

I was buckled with laughing.
