Roy Keane

He took Sunderland from bottom of the Championship to Premiership football and retained that status and won a trophy at Sunderland.

That's a pretty decent achievement given the state the club were in at the time, having just lost to Bury (I was at that game) and I think Bury were bottom of league 2 at the time.

I know. There is of course that. But what did he do at Ipswich or at Aston Villa?

I would be lying if I knew for certain, head would say Board would ideally want it sorted before we play Doncaster
Not specifically saying the current coaches would take that game, just prepare for it, suggests so.

Not sure I can take much longer wondering if it’s going to be Keane or Lennon. Going to be over the moon or absolutely gutted, no in between:

I’ve noticed a trend.

Keane has achieved little in a tiny managerial career yet because people love him he’s the right one for the job. Lennon has achieved loads at every club he’s been to yet because nobody loves him he’s the wrong choice.
Lennon has only won anything with Celtic.
My nan could win trophies with Celtic. You only have to beat Rangers twice to win the league ffs

Keane had an agent all his career, sadly he died in June 2020.

Michael Kennedy was his name.
michael kennedy never worked as a football agent in his life. He was a high flying lawyer at a london firm who worked witha few of the irish lads and a few of the arsenal lads..because he was an irish arsenal fan. Frank Stapelton was the first to employ him as a lawyer to review his contract, because they weredrinking buddies in north london. Staeplton recommened him to Dave O Leary and from there he worked with a lot of the irish players. He nebver charged an agents fee, or even a proper lega; fee for doing it

He said the only one he turned down was Keith Gillespie because he knew that lad qweould sqaunder the cash.

Worked under a tight regime at Ipswich with hardly anything to spend and a fanbase who loathed the owners and club, did decently considering that.

Paul Jewel came in after Keane and took them into the bottom 3, McCarthy struggled but did well to keep them mid table for years in the circumstances.

I personally know a good number of Ipswich fans from previous job who said him and MicMac both did a good job considering how awful the club was being ran at the time.

Was an assistant at Villa. Had to deal with premadonna ****houses like Bent and Agbonlahore.

Taking your team up as champions in your first managerial season after giving the rest of the teams a six game head start is achieving little, followed by keeping that promoted side up in the Premiership ?
