Tin hat on.

I honestly think that if Keane managed another club instead of us back in the championship, and then still had the same uninspiring results at other his clubs after that. Nobody on this board would be suggesting him as a manager.

Or if a manager had got promotion for one side, then had a very similar managerial career to Keane they wouldn't even be considered. His win percentage is 38.7% that's hardly what we need with 17 games left to play. For reference Lee Johnsons is 40.1%.

I fear for too many people are looking at things through nostalgic lenses and there's not really anything to suggest that success can be repeated.

I think he probably does want to return to management but I'm not certain our offer will be enough to sway him. It's living in a flat in Durham again and he can't impact the current squad in any way other than motivation given the closure of the transfer window. He has to give up a lot with little in return tbh. If he gets us up well it's hardly manager of the year stuff and if he doesn't the club can release him.

Just a gut feeling and I desperately hope I'm wrong mate.
That's not really down to our offer though, marra. That's personal and it being the wrong time for him. For all we know he's gone into the interview and being shown the owners intention long term. The ambition of KLD, or lack of it, will be what Keane basis his decision on.

Sounding less likely with every passing hour.
How have you taken that from the tweet? If anything it confirms they’re going all out to get him but have a contingency plan which is sensible…..and it’s probably just idle speculation anyway.

LJ never managed in the Premier and Keane never managed in league one.
The % means bot all.

Yeah, there will be a piece of paper which on one side has the positives of taking the job and on the other side will be the negatives. It could be as simple as not wanting to be away from the family home for extended periods at the age of 50.
