As much as Craig Hopeless has been a figure of amusement over the past few months, his interview on Off the Ball this morning was interesting. There was a feeling among the leadership that Johnson was too cosy to players. Speakman called the meeting with the players after he was sacked and laid out a very forward thinking plan for the club, but some players were still unhappy with the decision.

The idea is to give the club a short, sharp shock. Happy we're not completely abandoning the strategy we've put in place, and that it's not just KLD driving the Keane appointment. Still not sure about it, but it's going to be bloody entertaining either way.

Yet I'll be happy with him back. We have tried all kinds of managers and failed. Can Keane get our shower of shit up, who knows but by christ could it really be any worse than the last 4 years if he comes back?

With only 17 games left and no transfer window, we have only 1 option and that's an immediate impact new manager bounce.

I can't think of a single candidate better than Roy to achieve the reaction that we need.

I think him leaving was inevitable with the way Short was treating him rather than showing him trust and respect. From what I can see he'd lost 8, won 3 and drawn 3 and it was only November. We will never know how the season might have panned out and that is clearly gnawing away at Roy too.

At least he's brave enough to come back and make amends when he really doesn't have to.

I like him as well. Seen a few people describing him as a good servant / pro and agree entirely. What he wasn't however was an improvement to our side or value for his salary and he needed shoehorning in at times.

I know he joined as a winger, but he effectively replaced Jordan Henderson in the long run (Craig Gardner certainly couldn't). Seb was miles more effective in a midfield three. I can't help but think that a midfield with a fit and well Lee Cattermole, Seb Larsson and Jordan Henderson would probably have you playing European football every season.

Just the tone and demeanour over didn’t seem like he was up for the idea. But it’s well known he isn’t a big fan of Keane isn’t it?

He was very diplomatic tbf...whilst then bigging up Defoe when asked about him later.

The interviewer actually said "another one of your former clubs" when getting around to SAFC after initially talking about Celtic, McGeady put him right though.
