Nah he spent an absolute fortune in his first year. Bent, Cana, Cattermole, Turner, Campbell all came in for upwards of £5m. Only loaned Hutton and Benjani. Next year he got Gyan for £13m as well. 2011 he got a lot of his transfer bugdet from player sales but he wasted just about every penny. He was very well backed. It was his signings we struggled to shift there after. O'Neill was the last to get any sort of backing as the Bruce signings hung around.

I don't know I found mcgeady doesn't always sound enthusiastic in interviews. Did he fall out with Keane?
 
It's clear that CV isn't everything. And managing a club in the north east isn't the same

Is that not his usual demeanor?
 
I was really doubtful. Never liked the way it ended last time.

Yet I'll be happy with him back. We have tried all kinds of managers and failed. Can Keane get our shower of shit up, who knows but by christ could it really be any worse than the last 4 years if he comes back?

I'm in the exact opposite camp. If making him head coach means we end up with fewer Chopra, McCartney, McShane, Prica, O'Donovan, Healy type signings then all the better

Like one or two other Bruce signings, it took different managers to get the best out of Seb.

Seb was a solid player, and I liked him. I wouldn't say he was an improvement when he initially came though. He came more to the fore as the club moved backwards, which was no fault of his own. Because of that slide, he became a scapegoat amongst some of the supporters, which was completely unfair.

Good player Seb Larsson, and a good pro. If he wants to come back anarl he can, and I'll get the Banana Splits out.

Of course it’s good marketing to jump on the current news / issues, but with him being an employee, the positive pov would be that they know something.

I like him as well. Seen a few people describing him as a good servant / pro and agree entirely. What he wasn't however was an improvement to our side or value for his salary and he needed shoehorning in at times.

Same - we won’t be uprooting our structure. Whoever comes in will be head coach, that will be clear as day. Many similar responsibilities to manager but much less transfer related tasks. As we saw with LJ, he still got the final word on them, but Keano won’t be going out and bringing whoever he wants in.

He’ll be aware of the role thats available, and hopefully he’s comfortable with it.

Chopra wasn’t a bad signing. I think McShane served a purpose too. The signings he made at the end of the promotion season transitioned us into a side capable of staying up. It was the next lot of signings he made, albeit there were some very talented players, that ended his tenure. He’d created a good spirit and superb work ethic and in an attempt to leap to the next level that was sacrificed with some iffy characters.

I think his tone and demeanor is just him. I watched it and didn’t detect any negativity. McGeady is just a dour, dry Scotsman
