To be fair almost all of the managers during that 10 year prem stint from bruce onwards can be blamed for bringing in utter dross.

The financial hamstringing came with bruce and signing bang average players like Turner for £12m, Gardner £8m or free agents on 50k a week like Vaughan or Larsson on 4 year contracts. Those lot ended up stinking the place out for years and crippled us after the introduction of FFP.

Whilst I broadly agree Gardner was about 6m and Turner 4m, not awful value. Seb proved to be an excellent free.

If he's going to be the manager, he'll be here full time from today surely? Even if he's just in the stands on Saturday, he'll then immediately have a game to prepare for on Tuesday.

Couldnt disagree mate. I think the only "advantage" Keane had over them lot was he was starting from a standstill. We needed bodies through the door to even be remotely competitive at that time

I’d like to think that both fan excitement and is this best for the club are considered with more weight to the latter. There’s no way he’ll be making his appointment purely on how much of a stir Keane is causing on social media.

What we do know is that he fuckin' shite, and we already had better in Anton Ferdinand.

Spent a fair amount on Frazier Campbell too, whilst doing his level best to oust Kenwyne, who was by far the more effective player.
 
I’ve seen lots of comments from those who are against the idea, that say Keane can’t man manage etc

Neville who played with the best players in the country (some of them best in the world) during his career, and won 8 PL’s, 2 CL’s and 10+ other trophies - reckons that Keane is the most inspirational footballer that he played with.
