Aye I re watched it last night when all this kicked off, seems like he's a bit more measured than his first time around, my biggest reservation is how he would work in the current system, he comes across very much wanting to be in charge of everything and that would include transfer's, if they can sort that out it's the best appointment available to us imo.
Transfers?

The window closed 3 days ago and the deal is only until the summer.

It'll be announced today imo. Gone too far this. It'll be interesting to see who he wants as his assistant.

In the balance I reckon. It seems as if the job offer is short term and dependant on promotion for a further extension. Keane is also among the highest paid TV pundits.

Keane isn't going to accept a 6 month deal like. He will want a proper crack at it.

He will walk back into a media role, he is box office. That won't even come into consideration.

Keane's strength was without doubt getting the best of less talented players, Nyron, Whitehead, Collins etc

he defs struggled the bigger name the player was
Well, you say that, but I'm not sure that's actually the case.

After surviving in our first season, it seemed clear that the thinking was to improve the quality of the squad. Get better footballers. Started with the Tottenham three (was it gonna be four? Who was the fourth? I can't remember now. Kaboul perhaps?) Diouf, Ferdinand, McCartney and Cissé. Not a bad window on paper.

Our position at the time though, our budget and pulling power etc, probably meant that you had to make certain compromises when signing players. So Tainio for instance probably came with those injury problems - a bit like Corey Evans nowadays. Then there's the character of the players.

Now to be honest, I don't think Keane had any problems with Malbranque, Ferdinand, McCartney or the biggest of them all Cissé - Djib clearly had a decent bond with him. The problem children always looked to be Chimbonda - who never looked quite sure he wanted to be here - and Diouf. Now both of these lads performed very well in the derby - Diouf woulda been a decent alternative shout for MOTM. Quality wise, Chimbonda was our best right back of the Premier League era for me, but there was obviously a disciplinary issue there. But the whole thing seemed to upset the makeup of the dressing room more than anything. It was some of the lads who'd gotten us there that were getting the brunt. Whitehead probably a case in point whereby things were becoming strained.

Keane himself has since admitted he probably expected too much too soon. As probably did we. Yeah we had some bad results, but we were still ticking along, We had a couple of good results immediately after his departure, but the rest of the season was a tough old slog, and we stayed up by the skin of our teeth.

I've rambled here like and don't think I've gotten me words round everything I wanted to say, but I'll defend Keane's second season now just as I did back then. Ultimately he walked, and it's a shame, and it seems to me like he himself would admit that.

Watched the overlap interview with Keane and he says he is keen to get back into management at championship or upper league 1. I think he will be dying for the chance, I don’t think he would have come back under SD regime but he know KLD is from good footballing background. The overlap interview is a great watch because it really gives you an insight of his expectations and attitude to standards be that in training or match preparation.
Do you have a link mate?

I'd expect it to be an 18 month deal with a break clause at the end of the season tbf. Not necessarily dependant on promotion but an opportunity for either party to call it off if they aren't happy with how it's going. Which would be fair enough. As you say, I can't imagine him wanting to agree a 5 month deal, especially not one where he has to turn a club around incredibly quickly in order to stay, he'd want to see a level of trust in him from those in charge

Im not even sure Keane is that much of a 'mentalist' as people think. He's a lot more media savvy than he makes out. Cant help but think he practices these stares and rants in the camera for full effect nowadays.

All this 'Eee imagine Roy against league one refs' etc etc is embarrassing as fuck
When was the last time he looked intimidating as a pundit? He’s looked a lot more mellow this season I think
