That's a pretty damming indictment of his times at the various clubs. I read it as a man with a heart of gold, but simply doesn't have the temperament to manage others.

I read it in a much more balanced way. His reputation means that certain players will always be able to blame their own failures on him - "he wasn't nice to me" etc; but people who perform for him, put in the effort in training and act like proper professionals seem to love him.

1.29 ppg in his career, 2.5 seasons in the championship and 1.5 seasons (all give and take) in the premiership. That’s versus 1.4 ppg McCann and 1.47 ppg Neil.

I don't think he's daft enough to do that. He knows as soon as he likes that story, it's going to go "viral" amongst Sunderland fans.

Suggests to me Keane's already accepted the job, and we'll hear about it officially before Saturday.

Indeed - KLD's little social media antics are pretty clever. The Club is clearly trying to whip up hysteria and push for bumper crowds/momentum.

My main worry is I’ll die of nostalgiac excitement before the fixture arrives.

Takes a lot to get me excited where Sunderland is concerned but this would do it like

Some people never fade just like Fergie, driven until the end. I have a feeling Keane will be similar.
And Roy is 50 with one Championship under his belt at what was, iirc, an eye watering cost.
How many Cups and Leagues had Fergie won by the time he was 50 I wonder?
With the best will in the world as far as managers go Roy's no Fergie.
Not trying to piss on chips here but with respect I think you draw a false analogy.

What’s McCann’s PPG ratio in the second division and top flight compared to Keane’s? Well I can help out with the top flight one without looking like
