It's more likely to be someone we've never heard of who's been coaching a Bundesliga B team or similar.
Would be forward thinking. You can end up with the next Farke or Wagner, or get the next Jan Siewert. I think it's a moot point anyway thought as I can't see KLD sacking him before the end of the season.

He's yesterday's man. and revelling in his job at Sky. Every time it's sentimental crap wanting an ex-manager/player in. Mental.
It's not mental like, it's perfectly understandable because Sunderland has been such a managers' graveyard throughout a lot of supporters' lifetimes that we gravitate towards the few who truly seemed to click with the club. In my lifetime, I'd probably only say Smith, Reid, Keane and Allardyce come out overwhelmingly positive as success stories (maybe Poyet too, to an extent). The first two had definitely come to the end of their line at the club, but with Keane & BSA, there's still a sense of unfinished business.

It's that, and having no faith in the people running the club to identify anyone better - again, fully justifiable on current evidence.

Why not?

He's not in a manager position.

He's loved here.

He would give us the shot in the arm we need.

Can you honestly see us succeeding at Wembley in the playoffs with this bottling mentality?
I accept all of that but just can't see it happening

No I definitely can't see us doing anything in the play offs
