Not sure it needed a new thread mind 🙂. She has a great back catalogue although I prefer Neil Young. Wonder who else will follow? Dylan and Springsteen can't as they no longer own their songs.

Pain in the arse this. If a few more follow I'm going to have to change streaming services.
I'm on Joni's side mind - Rogan is an absolute prick, had that other dickhead Peterson on yesterday too.
Hopefully spotify come to their senses or their whole business model will be redundant

What do you want Spotify to do?

Hilariously this will be framed as free speech and cancel culture, as if Rogan should be allowed to sell himself as an alternative to evidence based medicine.

I used to really like Peterson but he's disappeared up his own arse now, he's quite clearly funded by big money now as well, it's a shame people are almost forced to choose between pink haired angry transgender vegans and right wing arseholes these days.

They could stop allowing their employees peddle absolute bollocks about covid

I agree it should be up to Spotify to remove what ever content is breaking the rules etc. Doesn’t mean they have to get rid of Rogan, could just be part of a podcast or a whole podcast if rules have been broken.

Did the podcast that’s causing issues break any rules?

It is a pain in the arse and could cost Spotify hundreds of millions.

I'll be off to amazon if they don't nip this in the bud.

Don't agree with the stance of these artists but want a complete service.

Spotify can do as they please it's their platform. But as a listener if a fair few of the artists I listen to leave then I'll just go to another platform as I would imagine others will do. I dont know much about this rogan bloke anyway, I might give him a listen and if I dont like the cut of his job I might change platforms anyway.

Spotify has 300m users and 200m of them download the Joe Rogan podcast every month.

They own his podcast now so if it’s a choice between TJRE and an artist, they side with Rogan every time.

Which is weird because he’s an absolute freak

the problem is with that is people use spotify for music (in the main) and if the catalogue has significant gaps then it is no longer fit for purpose for people.

I have no issue with Rogan he seems fairly bland and harmless.

Mental stat, that. Both Spotify’s user base being relatively low all things considered, and the number of people who want to listen to Rogan.

do they? I know they used to but there’s much more focus on podcasts now

200m of their 300m subscribers listen to just 1 podcasts. I reckon the number of people that use Spotify for podcasts and music will be fairly similar

Spotify must also be fairly comfortable with the numbers cos they spent millions acquiring Rogan’s podcast and are happy to let musicians walk

If we censor and shut down Rogan and the like, we also shut down the future Mandela's.

Nirvana is the land where time and evoluton stands still.
