Canny stat this

No Jofra. Well done Root:lol:

His injury has nothing to do with root
And also wood is quicker than archer

That’s the point
Generally recognised as the fastest England bowler of all time.

People pissing their pants about the quality of the CC may want to reflect on the quality of fast bowling we have available. Its as good as its ever been.

Absolutely

I’m not often right but I’ve been right about mark wood. Since he changed his run up he’s been the fastest bowler in the world and the fastest bowler England have ever had

It’s been so frustrating the media barely mentioning him when archer was about.

Wood bowler us to victory in Antigua and I no South Africa. He’s fantastic
It’s also amazing that the only other bloke on the list is from the same town!

Wood is first name on the team sheet after Root for me

Just shows they overthink selection, pick a team when it’s fit. Don’t rest for sake of it. He played 4 out of 5 but they didn’t pick him in the game we really needed him in

Boycott reckons Trueman bowled at seven million miles an hour. He bowled so fast that the ball went past the batsman, all the way round the world, then crashed into the stumps the second time around, every single time ever. Frequently he got four batsmen out with the same ball. Then went down the pit and did a 48 hour shift without a break, returned to the ground after England had scored 750-2 and bowled the whole team out in their second innings. All whilst smoking his pipe and hosting Indoor League at the same time.

Hasn't Archer clocked 96mph for Morgan's ODI side where he hasn't been flogged to death?

he wasn't flogged to death, he bowled too much in 1 test match, that was it

its almost like ODI games a shorter, and a bowler has to bowl 10 overs max

its almost like its somehow easier, weird in it
is that average speed of each delivery during a spell?

yep

mad aint it

even now Sky pundits saying he showed great "guts" etc and heart

he did, but he also showed pace, consistent pace like I have never seen before

always find that a bit misleading then, as the frequency of slower balls will skew it massively.

jade dernback probably the slowest bowler in history

woody never gets the respect deserved, he does get some tap at times, but as someone said, argue about the county as much as you like, it still producing some great players.

for all the 'military medium criticism the cc gets, look how many bowlers have been rapid playing in england then suddenly on england duty they can't get out of the 80s. that ashes tour they should've took bunny but took a battery of 4 or 5 bowlers (who were all the same bowler) that could bowl 90mph and suddenly was it finn, tremlett, boyce maybe a.nother and they were all bowling about 85mph

aye it gets all the stick but probably never been as many bowlers who can bowl over 90mph in England than right now

Only 48 hours down’t pit? Bloody luxury!!

Not sure we've had any bowlers apart from Wood and Harmison that should be troubling that list since 2006?

Finn maybe?

Finn wasnt that quick

its really unusual Wood like

the reality is, even bowlers who can bowl 90mph often dont bar the odd ball, they settle into like an average of 86 or something, which is extremely quick over an average, and if you are getting in the right areas like Cummins and Hazlewood its a f***ing nightmare. Thats what Archer needs to try and do as he cant bowl quickly consistently, he just cant.

Wood is a freak how he has managed to do that, over long spells too, I cant remember anyone doing it.

I wonder how quick Devon was? Inconsistent but he did seem rapid.

Steve Waugh says they always breathed a sigh of relief when Malcolm was left out for England.
They could never understand it agreeing that though he was erratic he also bowled nightmare balls which were unplayable and which had you worrying about your safety.
