West Indies Tour 2022

Going to Grenada me

Barbados just be too popular like. I want some atmosphere but I just think it’ll be too full on, too many Brit’s abroad boozing

Know what I mean?

Not knocking people going like still be mint just if you have to choose

Fancied that one but can't have end of March off as approaching new financial year. Doing Antigua instead which also seems quite touristy, but it's a different island. Tbh I've stopped thinking about it now you know what is rearing its ugly spiky "body" again but hope it goes ahead

Don't think anywhere will be as popular as usual anytime soon. Though you'd imagine Grenada will by far be the quietest still.

Half of my trip is on my own so won't mind if the bars are full of bits tbf

Aye I am with you, am going alone mate, so know what you mean. Might just be a bit of a different experience

They will all be class like lets be honest.

I think Covid will be fine like, it seems bad now, but I traveled a lot this year and found it just like normal really.

They’ll all be great for different reasons.

Where are you in Grenada? I found that there wasn’t much to pick from digs-wise. Got somewhere by Grand Anse beach in the end. Flights look tough now too.

Fingers crossed mate. Not bothered about the testing or even a day or two in isolation at either end, just hope we can go

Not booked me accom yet like, probably should get that sorted!
Booked up for the t20s now so absolutely guaranteed it'll be behind closed doors and quarantine will be brought back.

If not then what a great January in store

Just seen you are going, forgot about the T20s, are they on with crowds and that? Might do someit last minute, just noticed flights are dirt cheap

any info at all

That's why I booked the t20s mate as the flights for the tests were pushing on double.

From the seating plan it looks like all seats are available (though they aren't selling to fast). Strict on masks and vaccines (2) with no exceptions. Which is fine. Got accommodation for a reasonable price on air bnb too

I've still not decided on anything yet, it will be a last minute job for me I think. Prices for Barbados are mental like.

I hadn't booked a flight with Air Canada to Antigua cos of the uncertainty. Looks like it was a wise move cos the flight isn't showing anymore on Skyscanner!

Any recommendations for reasonable priced accommodation in Antigua and where best to stay. Flights are booked just need some advice on where to stay etc.

Unfortunately I've had to cancel my trip to Barbados due to a few factors.

A mate (pilot for Tui) was over there last week. He said St Lawrence Gap was like a ghost town. Lots of bars shut and quite a few have gone out of business. On the plus side there's a bloke set up an outside bar just along from Sharkies with the bar being the back of his van. Talking to some locals who said they're banking on the cricket saving their season.

You’d think/ hope that with people getting more positive about the future then the tourism and bars will spring back soon. There’ll be a big payback for those who get them up and running by March too.

I was recommended Marina bay, but obviously not going now.

I'm hoping to get away next winter now. There's the T20 WC in Oz Oct to Nov and bizarrely an England ODI/T20 tour straight after in the same country (I think a lot of out first choice players might miss that one). Couple of tours of Pakistan in Oct, Nov Dec which will probably end up in UAE. There's nowt pencilled in Jan - Mar but NZ, would be nice.

Netherlands in June but I'm using the holidays I've booked to relocate back to the Sunderland Riviera.

I'll do my best to get the Barbados hospitality industry back on its feet next week 🍻
