Is KLD just a farce?

At no point have we tried to get promoted on the cheap.

This year is the first we don't have the highest wage budget.
Take your point, but be interesting to know how much exactly he's put in directly or indirectly towards transfer fees for the first team? Doubts the pitch upgrade did get done to the 500k mentioned and everything seems to be around cost cutting rather than investment.

Yea, it is pretty interesting about the pitch given how much was made of the investment. One thing I'd say is that the backroom set up is not cheap especially given the first team wage will have us running at near loss.

My optimistic nature says you should always prove the theory prior to investing it and imagine there are a fair few kinks to work out.

The youth players coming through is a good sign, but to get promotion this season or to at least keep in and around the top two we need investment in the first team .

It would be handy im sure but the whole point of the strategy is to outperform on intelligence rather than finance.

If we continually have to rely upon investment, we won't go very far.

Some first team investment involving paying a transfer fee would be nice.

Sounding more suspicious by the moment. Looks like Donald and co still hold the power. We need investment Wigan are going out and buying players. Yes we have gone youth policy and will take a few years to take off but we need to get out of this division. Go and get what the fans deserve, just need maybes 3 quality acquisition’s. Strong dominant defender, ball winning midfielder and forward. Can’t stand another season down in this league.

I did wonder how long it would take the Negative Norman's to turn on KLD

I’m reserving judgment til after the window, he was there to watch that shit show today so he’ll know we need improving. His intentions will be more than clear come the end of this window.
His intentions have been made clear already. He wants to run the club successfully within its own resources. We won’t spend much more money in this window unless we bring some in and / or free up some wages. I’m not too bothered about it to be honest, I think that in the right hands we have a promotion achieving squad already. Perhaps a couple of free transfers such as Roberts and an experienced CB might paper over the gaps that our manager clearly has, and get us over the line.

A billionaire with cash on the hip with nothing better to do other than lose it on football would be great also. Shouldn't be relied upon though, imo.
Nobody is asking for big investment like. Just making Sunderland in the top 2 strongest squad in the third division. That should be a given like

The more the club keep silent on what % the chancers still hold, the more the fan base will suspect they are hiding something that the fanbase dont want to hear. Once that gathers momentum, then more of the fanbase will refuse to part with £400 come renewal time.

We've been mugged off once already by the chancers - folk are not stupid and wont be mugged off again.

Ignoring posts about who owns what percent (important as that is to know in due course) , we are in a decent place in table and have an opportunity to finally get promoted to championship that we need to do in order to further progress in the sustainable plan they talk of.

we still have the same issues we have always had in this league since day 1. Regardless of if we think LJ is good enough or not, the same issues need sorting.

so for me, however we do it, loans, freebies or transfer fees, we need to address the soft underbelly we have and have some experience to guide the younger lads through it on the pitch. Against the teams who have their cup final against us or use shithousery tactics and bully us we cave in too often And draw or lose (sometimes managing to hang on but it isn’t good for my health).
i think we need 3 players. An experienced spine to pull us through supporting the younger lads in the team to allow them to play. So a strong CD, CM and a forward. For these three positions ignore the going for youth policy. Need the experience to make the difference.

we need automatic promotion and some steal in the side To achieve this in my opinion.

There's that should again.

Depends on how you look at it, without context it's ridiculous to suggest we shouldn't have amongst the top tier squad.

With context, they had a very short time to implement a long term model and IMO made mistakes, those mistakes will happen and you cant always just pay your way past them especially with restrictions. Splicing extreme short with long term is just as likely to hamstring your idea than it is to assist.

Key thing in investment, is it scalable. Can we pay our way out of this division, possibly although we've tried a couple of times and failed. Can we do it in the league above, absolutely not so we have to prove a different manner of outperforming opposition.
What was the fee?

200k apparently, a relatively princely sum in the division, especially for an unproven Irish youth.
