Weird think with this Wood bloke. He is at Burnley for a few year and suddenly drops his manager, staff, fans and teammates in when they need to all pull together to join another relegation threatened team .

Character reference shows a first class ****. Adding a greedy no morals one to that reference.
Right at the end of his career and has the chance to be paid more than he ever has before.

Easiest decision ever.

Of course, the little matter of a two and a half year deal, more than likely doubling his wages.
I think there's a little bit more to it than that.

Here's my guess based on snippets I've heard.

Newcastle didn't trigger his clause because apparently the clause was a summer clause, not a January clause.
It appears we've offered the clause money and Burnley's owners have accepted, leaving him under no illusions about his worth to them other than a windfall for them.

I think Burnley are geared for the championship and I'd be surprised if they invest that money from Wood for the prem.
They may bring in loans or cheap buys and likely make a pretence of being in for expensive recruits.

How's that for massive speculation?

There'll be plenty of bad blood on his hands playing for Mohammed bin Salman.

Wood has been discussing the clause in interviews since signing I believe? and I can’t imagine he’s brought it up for the sake of it
