F1 2022

Fantastic read.

Cheers for that, I'm not massively into F1 but have got tickets for Silverstone with a mate that is. We're both taking our sons and stopping on the circuit in the campervan- really looking forward to it.

So what’s the craic with testing then? Some of it’s on telly and some not, or is all of it on F1 TV? Assume spectators will be allowed (COVID pending) quite fancy going out for it this year and see the new cars.

Unsure on TV.

However this site is champion (would recommend it for anyone attending a race abroad) and they've got an article about attending testing.

Unconfirmed yet whether the public will be allowed to attend it although the bloke writing that article seems to think so.

If allowed cheap as owt going off 2020 prices (109 euros to get general admission and that also got you in the paddock that year. Unless you pay for a paddock pass at a GP costing well over a grand upwards, you'll never get to be that close to it for the rest of the year for next to nowt). Rekons the hotels near/ next to the track at Montmelo usually used by the teams are cheap as chips and half full in Feb/March so you'll even have a decent chance at running into a few famous names if you stop there.

I'm off to Budapest again this year with mates (also went in 2019). However one year I'd definitely be interested in taking a holiday in Spain and spending a day at Catalunya for a test day.

Hardly a surprise given the ridiculously connived conclusion to the '21 season.

It isn’t just about the final race of last year. All year long it’s been the Lewis & Max Show.

We have so much to look forward to about 2022. The new car. Zhou making his debut. F2 and F3 reverting back to 2 races and looking better every season. Hopefully Haas won’t be the butt of the jokes. Especially Mazepin. I hope his nickname Hasaspin stops being used. Hopefully McLaren and Ferrari will pick up big points. Aston and Alpine not far behind.

It would be a shame if F1 was about this churlish fighting.

Hasaspin will stop being the butt of people's jokes when he stops trying to drive an F1 car.

F1 can only be better if the field is closer together and more racing can take place.

That said, I'll be amazed if the usual suspects aren't dominating again 3 seasons from now

I agree to a point that your inability to do something is God’s way of telling you that clearly you weren’t meant to do it and will never be good at it, but we ought to give him a chance and not write him off straight away.

He could drive an F2 car.

He's not the first and won't be the last to find he's not capable of making the step up to F1

I agree to a point that if you aren’t good at something it is God’s way of telling you that clearly you weren’t meant to do it, but I think we need to give Nakita at least one more season before deciding he isn’t good enough. HAAS does seem to have, like Ferrari, spent 2021 developing the 2022 car as a way to get ahead of RBR and Mercedes on development.

Mercedes stopped developing their car early too. I think Red Bull sensed this was their year to win the titles if they kept honing their 21 car.

They got drivers but not constructors.

Mercedes are a giant we can only imagine the resources thrown at the new car.
