Laying the foundations for this postponement. Same as the multiple mags players crawling around the pitch and then dragging themselves up. JoeLiptons was almost crawling to the sidelines but made a miraculous recovery to carry on, as his bestie Longstaff will testify proudly on any social media platform available.

Do the Premier League have a limit of how many injuries/suspensions that are allowed when adding to covid cases? Given the likes of Chelsea have asked but were denied yet seemed to put out a decent team then why don't the PL come out and say how many are affected by covid and name them. I'd assume they are also checking tests are valid of course.

Everton have also had players out so possibly wouldn't have had anywhere near a full strength team out anyway but even you have to wonder just how many are due to covid and how many to injuries, especially with the Mags.

The Board accepted Newcastle’s postponement application as the club does not have the required number of players available for the match (13 outfield players and one goalkeeper), due to COVID-19 cases and injuries.

Last night we had only 8 on the bench instead of 9 and two of those were keepers.
So out of 19 players in the squad we had 16 outfield players. With 4 injuries/suspensions that takes us below the number. Although i don't see why we can't bring in academy players and just get on with it

I wonder if Schar is injured but the point is that having so many players 'injured' and just a few with covid is a piss take. What if there was no covid, what on earth would teams do I wonder?

I see Schar now listed injured with cramp along with Fraser with a tight hamstring according to one injury website. Why did Manquillo get booked so late in the game knowing he'd end up having to miss the next game?

So that's 5 players now 'missing' from the Everton that probably would be 2 genuine ones under normal circumstances. You had 19 last night so down to 14 but have got Hayden coming back from suspension so that's 15. So there's at least another 2 injuries or covid cases since last night. That's why it would be interesting to see which are covid and which are injuries when the PL calls a game off.

I agree. Bit transparency would be good to see who's got what.
I think the manquillo thing might have been deliberate.
Southampton on new years day will probably get cancelled too. That gives until the 15th to add players or get others fit

Fuck knows. Palace had 3 out with covid and no injuries and had to play.

The mags have 2 out with covid and injuries so it seems the covid protocols don't actually apply to covid now. Just injuries.

I stubbed me toe earlier. Wonder if we can call our game off Thursday.
