Colback or Henderson

They f***ing do man

Well aye, of course they do if we apply a total masterclass in hindsight. One is captaining one of the best sides in Europe whilst the other is in the championship.

But some of the comments relate to not being that concerned about Henderson leaving and having Colback in the side. At the time, Colback was doing quite a good job for us in the top flight. He was quite a mature player for his age, was tenacious and competent with the ball at his feet. Henderson was a decent player for us but was all about potential. Had he stayed, he undoubtedly wouldn’t have been the player he is now and may have even gone to shite. We simply don’t know.

So on that front, based on their careers at that point and their contributions for SAFC, the comments weren’t that daft (with some, as ever, going overboard about Colback’s qualities - that still happens now).

Classic RTG this thread, looking at the date it was posted on the day of the 3-3 draw at city. No doubt there was a thread about how crap he is 2 weeks later when we got beat 4-0 at Everton :lol:

Not sure why you’re bothering to defend it to be honest. It’s only a bit of fun

This thread deserves a bit of context mind. We’d just drew 3-3 with City and Colback had put in an outstanding performance and was playing well when we were going canny under O’Neill. Colback turned to absolute shite but he looked a good player here at times. Henderson had the ability but matured later.

Are you getting your defence tactics honed in preparation for the bumping of your Dan Neil comments in a few years. ')

You can bump away! I’ll only be delighted if he goes on to play for England. Especially if he does whilst still in Sunderland colours.

I rate him. I think he’s a good player. I think he’ll be canny in the Championship at least. England honours and top level? I think that’s a very bold claim. To show what he has shown at league one level in the top flight is an absolutely immense step up.

Hopefully, for all of us, I'm right. I'm pretty sure I will be.
