Re-arranging deckchairs on the Titanic for the 3rd test

Harsh on Pope imo, but equally none of the batting bar Root and possibly Malan can complain if they're dropped
Tbh I'm doing it on the assumption he fails again, really hasn't kicked on since the South Africa tour where he looked the batsman since root to come into the team

Don't disagree he hasn't kicked on, but equally much as we say about Root - how often is he in a ridiculous situation when batting for us?

He normally comes in at around 120/4.

People quote other batters that started at 6 then worked their way up the order, but I bet they're often not coming in with us in strife anywhere near as often as Pope.

He is our future imo and we need to invest in him, more important than Test failures like Bairstow or guys like Billings who have no real future

I agree about investing, but it's his 21st test, how many tests do we give these players before moving on.
2 tests would have been the 90's modus operendi

Dont think it's a bad thing mind. Far rather see a talented kid get 20 Tests than dropped after 3 and discarded a failure like the old days!

Agreed for youngsters, i suspect as i Think we all probably predict, a clear out after this series with a few new batters getting a chance in summer

I'd quite like farbace? but he obviously wanted a break after working alongside bayliss for so long, not sure if hed want to come back
Yeah I get that,. I like him but personally I'd rather see a total move on from the last six or so years, clean break. Maybe Kersten

Aye definitely go with Pope out now. Absolutel brain dead cricketer.

Unfortunately we have alot of those cricketers lacking life in the brain. To me it won't matter who is dropped and who is brought in. Rotten from top to bottom in the test format. They don't have a scooby doo.

Bess would go at 36 an over. I appreciate that Leach got a tonking at Brisbane but he’s got far more talent and he needs backing.

Jimmy also remains our best bowler and can’t be dropped.
Too many left handers in australia line up for me + we will need Bess' runs with the bat
