Absolutely joke they are 6 on a Sunday @SAFCTEESJust had the kids and dog down seaton Carew for a walk and had to stop for a northern train, 6 carriages and mostly empty
Just emailed - for both journeys yest, with pics.Hopefully as many people as possible email [email protected] with their experiences as this email address was set up specifically as a result of issues being raised at previous home games. It’s madness that they’ve prioritised other events over football matches where they know large crowds attend.
Considering the prices they charge the rail system in this country is a joke.7:30 last night going to Prudhoe was terminated at Newcastle, so we had to resort to a bus (which first two failed to turn up).
App said 8:30 and 9:30 from Sunderland heading north were both cancelled plus the metros went off and had bus replacements.
What company you travelling with mate? What were the trains like mate? I’m supposed to be heading to Edinburgh on Sat and don’t have a reservation. Thinking about cancelling and just going to Ipswich instead

10 carriages, you'll be unlucky not to get a seat or 2.LNER mate. I know carriage C is unreserved, but I reckon it will be a nightmare

They are not fit for purpose. Such a poor unreliable service.Just received this following my email regarding the Ipswich game on 20 November.
Dear sir
Thank you for your complaint regarding the Seaham to Sunderland services which you email us about on the 20th November.
I can see that you have since discussed this with one of our office managers, on the 26th and can only apologise that I have only now returned from a 3-week absence to see your email, and your subsequent request you made for more information on this subject. As such, please bear with me as I have now contacted my colleagues in the planning department and await their response to your complaint and enquiry.
I can see that my colleague has already explained that we often don't have the spare carriages to add on to our trains for special events (concerts, sports, markets, festivals, etc) so we can't always do much to strengthen the services that we already have scheduled for any routes into and out of the station nearest to the noted event. There are times we do, and there have been times we've managed to add extra services due to an event, but even this can be wholly insufficient when 1,000's of passengers wish to travel at the same time as there just isn't the capacity to accommodate that many passengers on a train, no matter what it's length (accepting that a great many stations will not support anything over 3 or 4 carriages without extensive improvement, some of which are already on the Network Rail 'things to do' list, which could take years to work through).
There are times we have managed to arrange for rail replacement services to work in conjunction with rail services in order to bolster the services, but this is (perhaps understandably) met with derision and disappointment as these will naturally take longer to make the journey, and are seen to be less satisfying than a train journey, so passengers tend to squeeze themselves onto the available trains where possible rather than share the load equally between the train and bus services made available. I'm not, at this point, talking about your particular route, just in general as we face a great many demands for extra capacity across our network as we cover the entire North of England.
As such, I shall be back in touch with you the moment I receive a response from my colleagues in our planning departments regarding your enquiry. I apologise, in advance, for any delay there may be in obtaining this.
